Shoulder holsters

Is it just my imagination, or is it accurate to state that many/most of the XD owners here tend to carry in a belt or IWB holster as opposed to a shoulder holster?
Is there any reason the shoulder rig would be preferred or avoided for CCW?

I think its mainly avoided because you HAVE to wear something over it like a jacket or coat at all times. In the winter its fine but just not practical in the summer. Even in the winter if you go inside you have to keep the overcoat on.

I would like to offer a different outlook. I wear a shoulder holster almost daily at work (LEO), so obviously it's not a problem. However, I do wear it alot when I'm off duty too. It is easy to wear it in the winter time, because I'm usually wearing a light coat......but summer time ain't bad either.

In warm weather, I still carry concealed when off-duty and even when I wore a hip holster, I usually covered the gun with a very lightweight cotton sleeveless vest. So it doesn't matter if I wear my hip holster or shoulder holster as long as I'm wearing the vest....of course, I can't take it off but that usually doesn't matter because I wouldn't take it off when I'm wearing the hip holster either.

Sure. I've got several different ones, so I'll take a pic of each one. I'll get it posted by Sat. afternoon.
