I want to have the following work done on my XD45 and my soon to be purchased XD40.

1. NP3 finish all metal parts.
2. 4lb trigger job with total trigger travel of no more than .30
3. Tungsten guide rod.
4. Polished feed ramp.
5. Night sights.

Question is, what shop has the best chance of getting all of this stuff done without mistake? I once sent my Stainless Tactical to SA custom requesting that all internal parts be done in Black-T. When I got it back it was a black gun. lol.

Some unbiased advice would be welcomed.

Thanks in advance,
Neal

Have you looked at the SA custom worksheet for the XD? They have three package deals available plus a couple of pages of individual services. I'm considering the XD"Production" package. Also check out Springers XD Work Order Sheet. I'm not that familiar with CC. Lots of options out there, you just need to do the research and pick the one that suits you best.

Both guys do great work and stand behind it 110%. You can't go wrong with either.

I've used CC and Springer, very happy with both, but they were just trigger jobs.

Thanks for your input fellas. I previously checked out SA, SP and CC work orders and all three offer something different, as you might expect.

Seems like like CC and SP may be more willing to give me a custom trigger weight along with reduced travel. If you get the combat action job from SA there is no travel adj at all. If you get the comp job it's set between 3-3.5 lbs, according to Deb, you don't get to choose.

I always read that SP and CC are both equally highly regarded, the only thing I'm left wondering is why SP uses their own parts for the trigger job?

The only company that can do #1 (NP3 finish) is Robar.

Instead of welding and grinding the stock parts to accomplish the "trigger job", Springer Precision redesigned their own parts to fit their approach to customization. Both paths lead to the same destination, but the added insurance of machined bar-stock parts (Springer Precision) help me sleep a little better at night.

I've had Scott (Springer) and Rich (Canyon Creek) do triggers for me, and they're both awesome.

Had my vote for Canyon Creek. Had Rich do some work on my XD45 Compact 5" including a trigger job and KG coating the slide. My 4" Compact, which I just got yesterday, will be going up to him shortly for a trigger job and maybe a few other things.

I believe Robar developed the NP3 process for use on aerospace parts and, afaik, has not licensed it to anyone else. Btw. Robar does some fantastic work on 1911s and, I think, Glocks, don't know about XDs.

Just checked, Robar does now offer a complete XD Package. That's someone else you can't go wrong with if you want some excellent gun work done.

Wow, that looks just like my wish list.
Except for the guide rod.
I don't like they make 'em for XD9sc and XD45 compact.
I'm sending the XD9sc to Springer next month for a trigger job.
I thought I'd get at least 500 rounds thru it before sending it to Robar for a Norton's Special NP3.
I've read a lot of good things about Robar.

They were very helpful in answering questions when I was going to get my Glock 26 NP3ed.
I sold it and bought the XD9sc before I had a chance to ship it off to them.
I'll get one or the other to polish the feed ramp.
Although I have Meprolights on the XD9sc, I think I'm going to swap them for TFOs.
Robar said , if I sent a set of TFOs in with the XD, they would swap them for no charge since they have to take the sights off anyway.

Then when I get the cash, I'll start on the XD45 compact.
I may go for the Tripp's hard chrome on it, just to compare the two finishes.
I'm thinking about a polish for the barrel and the guide rod end on this one.

It also already has factory Trijicons.

Please keep us posted Neal and let us know what you decided on.
Post pics if you get any work done.............
