Poke around here. Specifically, this page. Good luck.

Why would you take it apart that far? Just curious. I've only been carrying the XD for two months now, and so far have only swabbed the bore and chamber each time after shooting. I have another autoloader that almost can't be dismantled, and have had no problem with just swabbing that for many hundreds of FMJ rounds.

How often should one take it down farther to clean? How many rounds through??

Shoot 200 round a month in one match Not counting practice. I use 230 LRN and the gun gets pretty dirty and over the holiday I thought I would take the gun down and clean it good.

Unless you routinely drop your XD in mud or expose it to a similarly harsh treatment, there really is no reason to break the gun down that far for basic cleaning.

Go to this link and then go to page 2 in the thread. In page to you'll see a post by HtownStunna it's the easiest way I've seen to put the grip safety back on. If your still having problems after viewing the pics Htown posted send me a PM and I'll talk you through it.

Grip safety reassemble? XD40 HELP

Maybe taking it apart that far to see how things work and what not is what he wants to do. If he needs help with that, help out. I don't think we need to criticize his choices of how often or when he wants to disassemble.

+1
I've disassembled mine several times and I can tell exactly how the parts work together to make the gun function.
