Well folks, you finally talked me into it...

I already own an XD 45 service model in flat dark earth, but after all the reading I have done on this site I went out today and purchased a 45 compact. I love how it feels in my hand with the 10 round mag in it. It feels a lot better than the sub-compact Glock 45 that I used to own ever did. I have a big hand and it still fits well on the shortened grip, no overhanging pinkie. With the 13 round mag it doesn't feel any different than my service model.

Quick question for you though. I was considering sending it out to Springer Precision for some custom work before I shoot it, but I'm not quite sure if should or not. I have never had a pistol customized before and was wondering what some of you who have had it done before thought about it. Should I put a few hundred rounds through it first to break it in or would it be okay to just send it out?

Thanks
Eric

Shoot it before you send it to Scott. Then you'll be able to tell what a great job he did when you get it back. You need something to compare it with.

I'd shoot it first so that you can tell the difference

Shoot it first. In the unlikely event something is wrong with the pistol SA can do the work with no chance of accidentaly goofing up any custom work.
