Racking the slide - HARD!

I'm 200 LBS and lift 3-4 days a week. This slide is HARD to rack, and the serrations on the slide aren't the greatest. Does the recoil spring 'break in'?

Put a few 100 rounds through it. You'll find it much easier.

it will lighten up. im 160 havent been to a gym in about 3 years and when i was lifting in high school my bench press was 180lbs i think i cant remember.
and my girlfriend had some trouble at first but she can do it just fine now.

also it might have to do with how your doing it. i find that one quick motion is A TON EASIER then if you do it slow. also it seems to be easier if you do it with your arms out in front of you away from your body then if you do it close to your body with your arms bent.

just take the mag out and while watching tv pull the slide pack and forth and it shouldnt be a problem

And leave the mags fully loaded when not in use, to free-up that stiff spring.

Remember that when you rack the slide, it is as much as a push as it is a pull. As an example, if you are right handed, push the frame forward with your right hand as you pull the slide back with your left. It will be much easier for you.

To help with gripping the slide, you can degrease small areas and add pieces of grip tape to those areas, giving your hand a non-slick positive surface.

It's all in the wrist.

Curl your hand over the back of the slide just behind the ejection port, base of your hand on one side, fingers firmly planted on the other. Push away with your shooting hand while pulling with your off hand. If you want to lock the slide open, push up on the slide lock before releasing. If you simply want to load a round, let your off hand slip off the back of the slide when it is fully to the rear, and let the recoil spring do it's job.

lol reminds me of the small guys that work in cabelas that have to "check in" your gun and cannot even lock the slide. by the way they only check my gun cuz i was fitting it for a holster, there a gun free zone so that means concelaed carry

Sorry, you're not doing it right then. It's all about technique like Old School says. I'm 150lb and can rack the slide easily.
