Well, I ordered a bunch of HST to run through my XD45C, to make sure it worked well, before trusting it, and I'm glad I did...
I had (3) misfeeds in 140 rds. (1) of them nosed down, and (2) nosed up and got the hollowpoint stuck on the top side of the chamber opening. They were all seperated, so it's not like it got dirty and started to mis-function. one was on the second magazine, one was around 75 rds, and one was around 110 rds. The pistol was cleaned before this, and I fired 100rds of ball through it after I finished with the HST, with no issues of any kind, so it's not like weapon was having problems, in general.
They were all able to be cleared (actually, still chambered that round) with slap-rack-bang drills, but (3) misfeeds in 140 rds is a bit much for me...
In trying to figure out why it loaded 80 of the TAP's just fine, but not the HST, I did notice that the HST does have a very large opening for the HP, compared to the TAP, so that may be it.
I do know that at least (2) of them were from different magazines, as at least one of them was from a shorty, and the other was from a 13 rd with the factory X-tension.
Still have not had a failure in close to 500 rds with ball ammo.
I may just end up rolling with the EFMJ, for reliability reasons, and dealing with having slightly less overall expanded diameter. Hell, you don't even NEED hollowpoints with .45 ammo, anyway...
I was already going to give 100 rds of the HST to my younger brother for his G30 for Christmas, but I guess I'll just give him the extra 60 rds I have left for me, too... I know his G30 will feed ANYTHING with the unsupported chamber (though blocky, and not horribly accurate, plus I can't get my pinky on it)
Well, that was a $75 lesson...
Mike
Edited to add: These were the 230 gr. version.
