Parts availability
Has Springfield eased up on the "extra parts" sales yet or are they sticking to their guns? Has anyone found a way around this stupid decision?

I sent an E-mail to Springfield last week to get a list parts that they will sell and they sent back a list of sell and no sell parts pretty fast . No they really have not let up on the parts thing yet. I'd send my list but I didn't need it anymore so I deleted it . Just go on the web site and ask they will send one back. Maybe if enough people would do that they would start to ease up a bit.

Parts availability per Springfield Armory 08-28-2007, 08:50 PM #1 tec XDTalk 5K Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Holland Ohio Posts: 6,795 Parts availability per Springfield Armory Some time ago I sent S.A. a email asking what the policy on selling parts was, at that time I shared S.A.'s response with all here. Some time has passed and I am sure their policy has changed as to what they do and do not sell to us, the end user. Last week I decided it was time to ask them again so I could post it here for all to see. Follows is my (tec) email to them, and their response back to me. ------------------------------------------- Greetings, I own a XD 45acp and love it. I don't shoot it enough, but I still love it. I am a frequent visitor to the XD talk forum with the forum name of tec and try to help some of the members who are new to the XD line. I recently ran across a new member who asked some question's that I did not have the right answer's for. The question's are : 1.)What parts are available for purchase that we the end user can install? 2.) Will this policy soon be emulating the parts policy of other manufacturer's where parts are more available? I hate to mention to you that this is one of the biggest problems with the XD line as far as many of the owners are concerned. I look forward to your response to help us on the forum have a clear understanding of what is available for us to install and what is to be installed only by your shop. Thanks in advance for your timely response. TEC --------------------------------------------- Their response is: From: "Terry Bowers" <terryb@springfield-armory.com> To: <tecxxxxxxxx@xxxxx.com> Date: Tue, 28 Aug 2007 11:42:22 -0500 Subject: RE: A question for you about the XD and it's parts availability Timothy, I have included a pdf of the parts that we have for sale. The highlighted parts are not for sale, except for the striker and striker dampening spring. This changed back in June of this year. Our parts policy is ever evolving. It is possible that at some point we could begin to offer more parts for sale. As of now, there are no other new ones on the horizon. I apologize for this inconvenience. I understand this problem, and I hope that it will not negatively affect your view on a very fine pistol and a company who will do whatever it takes to ensure your firearm continues to function flawlessly. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do for you. Thank you. The last time I ordered a few parts they would not sell me a striker. I will have to call and order a spare one for the range bag. If you take into account third party suppliers of XD parts the list of part we can't get is getting short fasts. SA no sale frame parts Receiver (very few manufacture will sell this since its the FFL tracked part) Locking Block (most require this to be a factory fitted part) Trigger with Safety Trigger Bar [we have a third party supplier] Sear [Springer is making these] Sear Spring [Springer is selling these] Grip Safety Striker Safety Lever SA no sale slide parts Slide (unless its a 1911 few sell this out right most want to factor fit) Barrel [Several third party suppliers now] Striker Safety Retaining Pin Striker Safety Striker Safety Spring Extractor So of the over 90 parts in the XD there is only 10 parts we can't get from SA or a third party and 3 of those 10 parts are tough to get from other gun manufactures in many cases and of the remain 7 parts only two are really parts I want. The striker safety lever and extractor. Give it time I suspect those two parts at lease will have third party suppliers. I am sort of surprised no one is making an extractor yet. Oh and I have a handful of factory base pads if someone is interested. I posted them in the trading post a few months ago and did not get any bites. Should we organize mass XD Talk Emailings every 3 or 6 months to help get SA off the dime on this?
