Yes, I'll admit it... I DO want an XD45C.... Don't want to give up my G30, though... I'm resigned to have both at this point!

Glock 30 Owner here considering XD 45

I have a G30 which I like very much, in spite of the bulky grip. It's a great gun for sure, proven reliability & durability, accurate, nice trigger (with 3.5# connector & smooth-faced trigger shoe), but I just don't quite "love" the fit in the hand.

I recently handled an XD45 Compact which felt really good in my hand. Comes with both 10-round and 13-round mags. Great! THe XD45 Compact is about 1/2" longer than the G30, about 1/4" taller, and weighs about 5 ounces more than the G30. Fairly close in size and weight to the G30, close enough for me to be comparable choices for CCW. So they both are suitable for CCW, except that the XD45 has a more contoured, shaped grip than the G30 has.

I'm considering getting the XD45 Compact and wanted to hear other's thoughts on the comparison between the G30 and the XD45 Compact. I already know that the G30 has a lower bore-axis (wondering how much of a difference that really makes in application.) I know that the XD45 has a 4" barrel compared to the 3.8" barrel on the G30 (I like the longer barrel to keep velocity decent). And I know that Glock parts & accessories and after-market support is vast compared to XD (but I may not feel much, if any, need to modify the XD45 Compact.). So that may not be a significant aspect. I know that both are excellent, proven guns, overall, so this need not be a bash-Glock or bash-XD thread, just a calm, objective discussion would be perfect.

Perhaps, with the previously mentioned elements in mind, is just comes down to which one feels better in the hand and shoots more comfortably and there is no need for this discussion at all.... I don't really know for sure. I only own the G30 at this point, so opinions from XD45 Compact owners would be useful. What haven't I thought of and what are your thoughts about the two guns? Thanks very much, in advance.

Keep in mind that Peierce will be coming out with a Pinky extension for the 45 10 rd mag (I iknow you could add to the 13 rd) they should be to market by the 1st of the yr with direct sales at first. Plus XD has double safty.

Thanks for the forum

if your crazy enough to carry a gun IWB without a holster that is an internalhammer, what color flowers do you want at your funeral.

That being said, if your set on it. The question is whats safer? The glock being half-cocked or the Palm safety? I'd say don't shorten the trigger pull and go with the XD, and www.clipdraw.com

P.S. I carry a sig 229 just because it has the longer DA plus I have a DAK hammer on it so the hammer won't catch on my clothing.

Another reason to use a holster IWB

It may keep your Mag in place.

I had my mag eject once on a 1911 carrying without a holster. Not a good situation.

You may never know if you bend a weird way and depress the mag release button.

Agree with the points made on carry without a holster... wish I could get comfortable with a holster... but I really dislike how they feel... I'll keep trying.

Dead or wounded is not comfortable either.

I had a G36 and a XD45C. The XD is absolutely the better fit for me. The G36 grip was too small in circumference.

The G36 is now with my son and I have his G30. I have not shot the G30 but will do so in a the next few days.

The size difference between the G30 and XD45C is minimal. I think the XD is ~ 4 oz heavier than the G, but for me that is a wash.

I am pretty sure the XD will be the choice for CCW, but I will give the G a fair trial.

I currrently carry a Sig 239 in 40 cal, but have decided to move up to the 45 ACP with a higher capacity magazine. The Sig is sweet and has never failed me with over 2000 rounds thru the unit, but I have been convinced the 10+1 45 ACP is more conforting than the 7+1 40 cal.

I did recently have Springfield install their custom night sight set on the XD - the rear looks like a Novak and the front a typical post type. The low profile sloped rear is great.

I had to make the same decision when I bought my XD-45 Compact. I learned to shoot pistols on Glocks. I have always liked them and still do. But when it came down to brass tacks, the XD is simply a much safer gun. The safety system is superior.

I don't see the guns as being all that different except for the safety features. Tac listed most of the differences but the grip safety just bubbles to the top. Why risk a snag and an ND when you don't have to?

They are both accurate, durable, reliable, and proven winners. So all things being equal, I went with the gun that is safer for me to handle and shoot.

BTW... you will love that XD-45 Compact. It is a terrific handgun. I carry it concealed OWB every day.

Only folks who'd send Schumer and Klinton to the U.S. Senate need grip safeties!

Don't blame me! I didn't have anything to do with getting either of them into the Senate.
