I own both the G30 and the XD45C. I guess I'll be the odd ball here and say I prefer to carry the G30, or if I feel the need for a little extra, my G29

That's patently incorrect. The .45ACP extractor doesn't provide reliable extraction with the 10mm conversion barrels. There've been many posts on various forums regarding unreliable extraction. Before you say to just use a 10mm extractor...they don't work in a .45ACP Glock slide.

If you want a 10mm, get a G29/G20.

Thanks for the comments... this is a really difficult call!

Last night I undertook a little surgery on my G30... undercutting the rear of the trigger guard a little to make some more room for my middle finger knuckle. I've done this now on all of my Glocks... makes the grip a little more comfortable in that region.

With the 3.5# connector and smooth-faced trigger shoe I installed, I really like the trigger on my G30 and this gun is verrrry accurate! Stone reliable too. Obviously, there is a lot to like about the G30! But I am still drawn to the XD45 Compact for the more comfortable grip it has.

I'm thinking I am just going to have to buy the XD45 Compact and keep my G30 as well. Not a bad situation. Two great guns! As to which will win me over for carry duty... not sure. I carry IWB at about 4:30 o'clock with a heavy gun belt but without a holster... unorthodox method of carry for sure, and I have to be especially mindful of not touching that trigger... but it works well for me. Perhaps the XD45 will be more comfortable tucked inside the belt than the G30 is... we'll see.

If you're carrying either a Glock or XD inside a belt, without a holster, then you need to reconsider your preferences. Bad accident waiting to happen.

I own a Glock 30 and an XD45 Service. I like them both and I carry both depending on my mood. The XD is slightly harder to conceal but nobody notices that little bulge anyhow. I find that the Glock is slightly more accurate for me. I'd get the XD45 Compact if I were buying one today (they weren't available when I got my XD) and I'd keep the G30 too. I've got an XD40 Sub-Compact also and carry that when I want to conceal under a T shirt. I never like to get rid of guns so I seldom sell one unless I really don't like it.

It sounds like you're looking at the "Sub-Compact" -- which is double stack, and I'm not sure about the capacity.
*SNIP
IIRC the sub-compact is the short grip w/ 3" barrel

You've tried it ? I have done it ? It extracts all the time. Over 100 rounds with Blazer and Self Defense ammo. So do'nt trust it if you want. Which extractor would you put in? The 29 and 30 have the same LCI extractor. Show me a difference with a picture and I will get it.

i carry the xd45 compact for duty and concealed carry. the extended mags for duty provide and excellent grip w/ plenty of room and i find my hand still fits well with the shorter mags i use when carrying off duty.

the firearms fires flawlessly w/ all the ammunition that i've run through it, which included a wide array of rounds.

i can say nothing other than you will love it.
