Tell me why I should not buy a XD45 4in Service
Well I today I posted a topic that was asking about a Glock 36 or a Colt Defender. Well just a little bit ago I shot a XD45 Service 4inch and loved it, so I need you to tell me why I should not get this handgun because BUDS has them for 449 with shipping right now. Im thinking about keeping my XD9 4in Service now again since I bought a Beretta M9 to replace it, maybe that was a bad idea, I dont know.

I really think it depends on your needs and preferences. The Glock 36 is more of a subcompact conceal carry pistol - smaller and a single stack to make the grip thinner. I like them for what they are. The XD45 is larger, has more capacity, and is a better all-around use for service/target/plinking/combat pistol, but harder to conceal than smaller guns. Trigger action is single pull weight striker fired on both of these which makes them similar in that regard. Neither have a manual safety lever to manipulate.
The Colt Defender has a standard single-action trigger pull, manual safety lever to operate and is more expensive than the other two. It also falls in the conceal-carry class, rather than general service class like the XD45. I have a hard time telling what your goals really are. You went from a smaller, lighter, simpler XD9 with a single pull weight trigger to a larger, heavier Beretta with a DA/SA combination trigger pull and long DA trigger reach. Like most people on this forum, I like the XD45 Service, but it fills a specific niche in my "arsenal" and conceal carry is not what I normally use it for. If you want an XD45 for CC, I would get the Compact version.

DO NOT BUT THIS. it is a nasty addiction. One will lead to another.
I made the mistake of buying one and now have 2-XD45 4 inch sevice models and am waiting for the bonehead who i ordered an XD45 compact from to get the correct one in for some reason he keeps ordering the service models. |

Personal choice.
if you're that torn, i would suggest renting if you can. if you can't rent, at least hold them for a good while at the store, to make sure they fit you right. but yes, the XD is veeeerrrrrrrrry addictive. that's one reason they must be so good

I will plus one that... I have a service and love it wioth ZERO plans of getting rid of it...That being said however there is a compact in the very near future simply for hte fact that even at my size...6'2" 285lbs I find that the grip of the service still prints more than I would like

go ahead..
The only regret I have is that I did not look at the bi-tone version in person. The photos do not show how good they look. My XD45 service is my favorite shooter. You won't be sorry.

Also just by changing to the 13rnd mag you would have the equivalent of the 45 Service anyway, go with the C.
