Springfield or Springer?
I was just curious as to who you would send your gun into for a barrel and trigger job? Springfield or Springer? I've heard that both are just as good. But I figured I'd ask the people who have done it already!

Springer is lightning fast, does a great job, and has very reasonable prices. Best investment I ever made to my XD was sending it to Scott.

i ve dealt with both and you ll have less problems with springer. scott is a good guy who is damn proud of his product and stands behind it 100 %.
not saying springfield doesnt but its like pulling teeth getting anything out of them. if you do go to springfield deal with rob out of the custom shop. he really is a goood guy who cares about the shooter.

Advantages both ways. Like others have said, Springer has a GREAT reputation, and will turn things around very fast. However, I've also had great luck with Springfield. They treat you super, don't cut corners, and will make sure you're satisfied. One advantage with Springfield is, you can be absolutely certain they'll keep the work under their full warranty. But to be fair, Springer will also warranty any work he does for you.
I don't think you'll go wrong either way. Springer may be faster, if you care about the speed issue. |

Just so folks that don't know understand what we are doing different than the factory.
They factory is modifying stock parts, we make our own parts designed to make the XD function with a shorter pull and reset. These parts are all machined out of high grade steel. We also make our own springs designed for a lighter pull weight that is still reliable. |

Ok well that clears things up a bit. If Springer does the trigger job, is the trigger adjustable. Meaning if I want to fine tune my trigger if I think it's too heavy or too light, can I send it in to anyone and have it tuned? Or do I send it back to Springer? And anyone know what the cost would be to get a barrel and trigger job done?

Well, yeah, you COULD send it to "anyone". The Springfield custom shop has an excellent reputation. In my opinion, sending it to Scott Springer is the best course of action. I had my XD Compact .45 worked on by Scott. I wanted the trigger to have a 4.5 pound pull weight (that's how all my pistols are set), be as smooth as grease on glass and have a really short take-up and a really short reset. I sent my pistol to Scott and less than two weeks later (I'm talking like maybe 9 or 10 days from when my pistol left my hands to when I opened the box upon return) I had a pistol with a trigger pull weight that was exactly 4.5 pounds, was as smooth as grease on glass, had a really short take up and a really short reset. He also undercut the trigger guard which makes an incredible improvement in the grip, especially with the short magazines (all I carry). And he smoothed the face of the trigger and installed Dawson low profile night sights for me. Did I mention it was like 9 or 10 days from my paws to his paws then back to my paws? And the poster who said Scott stands by his work was giving a gross understatement - he INSISTS his customers are completely satisfied. He also returns phone calls and email messages very quickly. Wish everyone in the gun industry were like that. Everyone who has shot my pistol has been amazed at how fantastic the trigger feels. Cost? Call him and ask him and he'll tell you, and you can take that to the bank. His website has most of his pricing on it. Can he adjust your trigger to exactly how you'd like it? Yup. You bet. Yeah, you COULD send it to anyone. But then again you can send it to Scott. No, he's not paying me to say any of this! (Wish he was!) hth Paul Last edited by perkelp; 11-24-2007 at 09:46 AM.
