Most XD-45 compact comments are wrong
Hi all, if you recognize my name it's likley you've run across my many questions here about the XD-45c. Well I picked mine up today and after having run a few quick mags through it I have to say that MOST comments about the 45c are wrong. I know the posters mean well and are trying to help spread good info, but the fact is the XD-45Compact seems to be somewhere between 8 and 9 times better than what folks are saying about it !!!LOLOLOL
This is my 4th XD and this thing is amazing, it is darn close to being perfect! The grip length is about a 1/4" shorter than the XD-9 Service and between 1/4 and 1/8" longer than the XD-9SC. The slide length is the same as the XD-9 Service. It FEELS almost exactly like the 9SC with JUST enough more grip length to get my pinky all the way on ( it's about half-on half-off with the SC9 ). It fits all of my XD holsters including SOB and my Galco shoulder rig. They gained the room for the 45ACP by thinning the sides of the grip/mag well and the rear wall of the mag well so the front strap and the backstrap are unchanged compared to the rest of the XD line. They use a long taper at the top of the mag to leave more plastic where it needs it the most where the grip merges into the frame. It even LOOKS perfect with the right ratio of length to height, something the long grip Service 45 doesnt pull off very well. It shoots very much like my 1911, was expecting more recoil and general hassle with the shorty grip and 230 ball but there isnt any. I'm already going to get some other version of the 45 just not sure which. A VERY VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER!! P.S. Does anyone know if the Bar-Sto extended mag release for the XD works on the 45c? I already have them on my other XDs.

Based on how you feel about the way the Compact shoots, the Tactical will make you wet yourself.

Just curious how it took you so long i got my compact 45 last january, not sure how long they were out before that, but with 3 9mms you showed either allot of restraint, or you are very stubborn to not get a 45 sooner |

I got my OD 9 Service several years ago ( it has the frame info panel that DOESNT mention Croatia ). I was looking for something smaller to carry in the woods. WAS looking at the Taurus Millenium Pro, then saw it was about the same size as the XD-SC also saw some very unfavorable stories about Tauruses customer service. While I was poking around at Gunbroker I found the SC in bi-tone with the XD Gear and XML light at an amazing price that I couldent pass up. But when I got it home it was SO gorgeouse I couldent take the thing out in the woods and risk it getting banged up !!! ROFLMAOO ( it's kinda like my "formal" black tie and tails gun now
I was concerned about the 45 ACP grip size. My USP 40 is a bit large at the front strap and my P220 was too big in the web of my hand ( so I sold it and got a 1911 ). I had promised myself to get up to Mid-America arms in StL to litterally get my hands around one to see if the hype about small grip was true. But I got busy with work and yadda yadda. After asking here and seeing some proof I just took the plunge and bought one and am very happy I did. NOW the question is: do I get a bi-tone Service and swap the tops? Orrrr a Com-Tac bi-tone? Orrrrr another Compact in Dark Earth? lol SA WILL be dropping a bi-tone Compact at some point, so I dont know. BTW, I'm not one of those folks who think the 45 is the only man stopper out there ( I USED to be, but have done too much research to believe that now ). The 9mm is a superior stopper as long as the round is still supersonic at impact. Has anyone chrono'd the 9mm SC??

Before I bought my Tactical .45 I felt both the 9mm, and the .40. And there really isn't that much of a noticeable difference in the .45. I have average size hands it just feels like it's meant to be in my hand lol.

Just to be clear again, the calipers dont lie. There is zero difference in the width of the grips on the XDs the only EXTERNAL differences are the length of the grip and on the 45 Compact the front to rear distance between the front strap and the back strap is 1/8th inch more just under the grip safety, the rest of the grip down to the base is the same on all of the XDs. It'z amazin

Kaboom i have to agree with you completely here i own a 45 service an tactical, but the 45compact is a different puppy in my hand also , the grip size is perfect for my hand also it forces you to hold it the same everytime you pick it up, the longer grips of the tactical an service give a lot of extra play room for me , iam already lookin atthe dark earth compacts on gunbroker
