3 malfunctions today

At the range using 230 gr Blazer brass I had 3 malfunctions where the bullet was cocked downward and jammed on the feed ramp w/ the slide jammed open.
Simply pulling the slide back to assist feeding cleared the malfunctions. But that's total BS for a new XD to be jamming like that. I have not had time to field strip it yet to look for any damage but I am led to believe so far that for some reason maybe the slide failed to move back far enough. The range officer said that maybe I should try a different ammo. But I thought we were talking about the XD here, the gun you can feed sand and mud to and it will still fire.
Any experience with this issue?

I have been firing blazer brass 230 grain through my xd45 for probably 500 rounds or more without a problem of any kind.
Maybe the recoil spring is heavier? I wonder if that would soften up with a few hundred rounds.

Same for me. BB with only one FTF. and that was a bad primer fizzle.
Did you try more than one mag? Could be the lips on a particular mag are not properly set.
I'd clean/lube it thoroughly, check the mags and try again.

Smile Other Ammo.

I sure would try other Ammo. before thinking it's the XDs fault. There is a lot of bad Blazer out there.

I'd tend to blame it on a bad lot of ammo or the mag. I use BB230 in my Service all the time and have never had an issue like that yet. Hundred and hundreds of rounds later.

I'll try going back to Winchester FMJ. I hear sellier&bellot makes a good range round. Of course my range officer swears that there reloads would never jam. I may try them next. If the incident does not repeat then Blazer just lost a customer.

Disassembly report: no build up, no gouges, nothing out of place. All the mags are new but I do leave them loaded which I wouldn't suspect w/a new mag.

I had a bad 13 round mag come with my XD45 Servcie. The mag would eject itself when the action cycled. The hole in the front of the mag where the magazine catch hold it in was deformed. I just took it back to the store I got the XD from and they exchanged the mag no questions asked.

I have almost 500 rounds of Blazer Brass through my XD45 service and have never had a FTE or FTF with any ammunition. My friend who also has a XD45 service had problems like you described with Wolf ammunition. Try changing the ammo first.
