XD Convert

I wanted to say Hi to everyone....I was a glockoholic, and I did a horrible thing. I was at the range with a friend who recently picked up an XD-45. I was carrying a G21SF and have been carrying it on duty for about 6 months. Needless to say I picked up his XD and gave a it a run. That afternoon I purchased my XD-45 service model. I have carried Glocks of one caliber or another for 10+ years as a police officer, and have nothing but good things to say about them. I will give credit where credit is due, the XD-45 just plain fits me better than my 21SF. I switched back to 45 ACP about 6 months ago, and decided not to carry my 1911. With the release of the SF, itseemed like a good way to go. The SF fit me way better than the Standard G21, but wasn't perfect. After shooting the XD-45 quite a bit I can say it is worlds better, at least for me. I know glock's are boringly reliable, but so far the XD has been as well. My wife is also an officer, who carried, noticed I say carried a G17 for several years. Well after handling my XD, she is now the proud owner of an XD-9 Bi-Tone. I will be around here quite a bit now to try and catch up with info on the XD's. I like Glock pistols, and Im not bashing them at all. I just feel the XD fits me better, and I finally decided to give something else a try. So far I'm impressed, sorry Gaston, but looks like XD has taken another one from your flock.
a pic of the new family

Welcome aboard!

Our local Sheriff's Dept had a similar experience awhile back. They had been carrying .40cal Glocks for 8 years till they were given some XD45's to try. Now they are carrying XD45's and love them!

That's about the most common intro we hear around this place. Welcome to the forum and The Machine.

Welcome to the forum from California.

I'd shot a Colt Govt 1911 for years, and my wife enjoyed shooting it too. Then I bought an XD 45 Compact. My wife wanted to try my new pistol. "Oooo! I like the way this shoots, and it's not as nose-heavy as the Colt. Why can't I have one like that?" The rest, as they say, is history. She will be the proud owner of an XD 40 SC at the end of the month.
