Holster - Paddle or Belt?

Just looking for some advice here.

Do any of the paddle type holsters hold the weapon as close to the body as a belt type?

I'm looking for a nice CCW holster and like the concept of a paddle, but the last one I had really stuck out like a sore thumb!

For me at least, the Fobus paddle holsters hold my weapon in close for CC and I've been very satisfied with them for years.

I've tried the Uncle Mike's kydex paddles and they didn't work well for me at all. (But they are fun to play with, trying different cants, etc.)

As to leather holsters, I just received a name brand holster and it does not hold the grip area of the weapon close in. Now, having said that, I think many factors come in to play with holsters. The type and quality of the holster, the quality of the belt, the type of weapon and even the body type of the person wearing a specific holster.

A good friend of mine, quite frankly, has a lot of blubber hanging out and he could probably put his weapon in a Wal-Mart bag, tie it around his waist and no one would be the wiser.

I happen to be rather slim, so while what works for me, may not work well for anyone else. But again, I use three Fobus paddle holsters in my CC rotation and a 5.11 Trainer belt.

Your slice of baloney may vary.

A rough rule, one that is quite accurate, is that paddle holsters offer convenience at the expense of concealment as most of them hold the gun further off the body due to the paddle mount.

Seems to be a very accurate statement. I've decided to go with the belt style...
