it really looks like a drop did that i dont see how it could happen by shooting but there is allways a first. also SA will sell that part to you and i think it would be woth buying a new one verses sending it in and losing your gun for a couple of weeks also you could buy one of dons guide rods which are wonderful i have mine but my springs arent here yet but i like the look way more then the stock one

cough cough... don's guide rod... cough

i agree it should have never come that way, but determine if you are the type that is going to end up ordering a DGR anyway. if you are, just do it now and save the headache... unless you just have to return it out of principal, which i fully understand.

of course, there is always the chance that this was caused by something that was severe enough to stress other parts of the gun. come to think of it, i would probably send it in, if only to get it documented.

i thought they would too but if you tell someone they will get it for free and for whatever reason they dont then they are dissapointed but if he thinks its going to cost money and it does then he got what he expected and wont be too disapointed but if its free then he will be happy
i would say 8o% chance they will give you one 20% chance you will have to pay. oh and is it for a 45? if it is don doesnt have the springs worked out yet on his 45 service DGR

I would have to agree that I must have missed it if it was damaged from a drop.

I was looking at Dons Guide Rods. I have an XD-Compact, which guide rod should I go with? I have seen the skinny one and the fat one.

I agree, it would be better to just replace the guide rod, than loose the pistol for a few weeks while SA has it for warrenty work.

As you Gents suggested, I did fire off an email to SA with pics explaining the issue.

Ill keep you posted as to what the response is.

That rod looks like it was dropped to me.

Does Don have a new guide rod out for the 4" 45???? Talk to me.

I was just looking over the manual for the XD 45 compact. It looks like it takes a full size guide rod.

The only type of Dons Guide Rod I could find was for a "Tactical". If the compact tacts a full sized guide rod, will the tactical guide rod fit the compact?

i don't believe so. a few posts back they said that Don does not have the spring set up for the 45 Service yet. i think you are stuck with SA for now.

i asked don about 2 weeks ago and still no spring for it. he said that he cant use any existing spring like he uses for the 40/9/357 DGR's so he has to have one made specificly for it so doing that cost more and takes longer to develope. i would call spring fiels and ask for a new one and dont take no for an answer if they give you any trouble
