The chamber indicator on the XD will break??

Has anyone had this occur?
I heard this happening after owning the gun for awhile.

I am having a hard time deciding between:

XD45 Tactical
G21
M&P 45

Any thoughts.

I have big hands to they all fit.

No, although if you don't clean it for a long time it will stay up (indicating a loaded chamber when really it isn't), but that is easily fixed by cleaning it.

I've never heard of it breaking, but crud does accumulate under it and it sticks up once in a while.

all the more reason for a good 'ole detail strip and scrub

Yep. What the other guy's said. I never knew one to break, but they will stick up if not cleaned from time to time.

What's to break? It's a little slab of steel (OK, maybe plastic?) with a tiny spring underneath, that pivots on a roll pin. If it did break, it would take less than 5 minutes to fix it. Getting the part might present a problem.

Life time repair warranty on the gun (send it in) or take the broken piece outt and still shoot it just remembering you don't have that extra indicator like before (always treat a gun as loaded)

Glad you came to the XD Forum for an answer. I have never heard of the problem before now. I personally do not consider information that comes second hand when it comes to firearms reliability.

If a 'friend' has a 'friend' whose XD or Glock or Sig or HK or ect. 'broke' and I could not personally verify the second hand story, I would ignore it until I found multiple sources that could confirm the problem.
