newbie trying to figure out why the XD?
I have been a member on here for about a year or so and just started looking more and more at getting an XD in 45acp.
Why did you get yours? How do you carry CCW? (pics?) Why do you think its better than all the others out there? Any and all you can tell me would be helpful. This has been an ongoing discussion at the watercooler, lol.

The XD45 Service was the first 45 acp I had ever shot. I had stuggled with autoloading pistols in the past but when I shot the XD45 a nice round hole appeared right where I was aiming again and again. AND it is a 45!!!
I carry my XD Service in an Uncle Mikes IWB holster. It was a cheap one about $15. I wear a vest or jacket or untucked shirt over it. I live in Northern Utah so a light vest is not out of place during the heat of summer. It is a 45!!! 45 is expensive to shoot but I was already reloading other calibers. |

I got my XD because of how safe it is. There are 2 safeties that have to be pressed in order to fire. The thing about it though is you don't have to think about it. If you're holding the gun correctly, it's ready to fire. You don't have to remember to click a safety if you ever get in a bad spot.
Also, there are quite a few threads on here that have pictures of people with their holsters. Personally, I'm 6' 235, I carry at 3-4 oclock with a Crossbreed Supertuck. I love it. |

Cross between a Glock and a 1911. Who wouldn't like it?

14 rounds of .45 goodness in a slimmer grip than my Glock 21.
The fact that I can shoot it very, very well is just a nice bonus. |

I have an XD Compact and I love the weapon. The Compact is small enough to carry comfortably all day still have 11 rounds of 45ACP goodness at hand. The Compact has a natural pointing ability and the recoil is easily controllable. I have used my Compact for both IDPA and concealed carry. Yes, the 45ACP is expensive to shoot, but if I ever have to defend myself or my family I want the most stopping power available. Plus with everything else said in this thread the XD is kinda of sexy when seen in the right light. Plus, the XD is a hammer. I have never had a FTE or a FTF in the hundreds of rounds I have fired through the weapon. I have used both the cheapest and most expensive ammo to test the weapon and my confidence in the Compact grows with every range session.

When I hold it it's a perfect fit, so I shoot it very well & instinctively.
It holds 14 rounds without being fat in the hand. It's accurate, reliable and safe. It's everything I always wanted in a WOMAN, much less a gun!

I like the 2 safeties, the grip angle, the grip size & the mag capacity. I own two XD45's. A Tactical & a Service model.

Exactly! I'm 6' 225, and I carry exactly the same with the same holster, I also have XD9SC and carry it the same way. I love them both.

Now just trying to decided between the compact, service or tactical. Looking at the Service or Tactical in .45acp first and then going from there. I'm being told by several that once I get an XD that my glocks will start to get dust on them, we will see.
