I've seen some for the 45 but I think they are for a revolver. I don't think they will cycle the action on the xd though I could be wrong. I know the 22's won't cycle my walther.

The ones I've seen used don't seem to have enough power to cycle most semi auto pistols.

I wouldn't mind one or two in a revolver in the desert for snake-shot, but from what I've seen I don't trust them in an Auto-Pistol

I always thought the CCI box had their warning the other way around, to where you're not supposed to use them in semi-automatic pistols? Guess not!

I've heard they don't have the power to cycle the slide though and you have to manually use them.

I've used them in 9mm, and couldn't get the slide to cycle. Maybe if I changed out the spring for a super-light one, but then I'd be worried about shooting my normal carry ammo through it.

CCI Shotshells have that flattened nose on them..in which case I'd guess it would be a catch 22

Too heavy a spring they won't cycle the slide.

Too light a spring they won't feed properly.

I read the reviews on that Midway link from spamlovr. They apparently work in a Kimber 1911:

Review:
I bought a pack of these just for fun, they are fun to shoot. I shot them from my Kimber 1911 45 ACP, no feed or eject problems whatsoever. They do just as a shotgun shell would, only not as far of a range due to small shot size. Fun for shooting cans, good for shooting snakes/rats, that’s about it.

According to the other two reviews (specific firearm not mentioned) they seem to work pretty good. I they cycle your action then they seem like a good, safe option for home defense or snakes.

Is it hard to clean a rifled barrel after shooting bird shot through them?
