Great Rounds for Vermin!

I use them in my 4" 45 ACP all the time. They cycle well and are very handy on snakes and other small rodents. Also very fun just to plink with, but they are like $1.00 a piece after tax.

On a prairie dog hunt in South Dakota I used one of these BB loads in my revolver to dispatch a snake - worked great, but I was very close (closer than I wanted to be).

Would I use these rounds for home defense? NO WAY! You simply would not get the penetration to get the job done.

Will this load work in your pistol? There is only one way to find out and that's to purchase a box and try it in your gun. I tried some in my Kimber and my XD with mixed results - in my 45ACP revolver I never had a failure. You do the math...

Again, purely my opinion, YMMV.
Good point spamlovr.

Wasn't there a report somewhere on here about how Glaser's and a HP have the same penetration into drywall?

I can't find it on here anymore...maybe i'll check the box 'o truth

edit: box o truth has a Glaser 9mm going through 7 sheets of drywall, and Federal JHP going through 8....go with a reliable hollow point and practice practice practice....if you can hit what you're aiming at, there won't be a problem with over penetration

This Taurus Arms video of The Judge is what I think a shotshell out of a handgun should be. .410

Those two rounds he fires from inside his car look pretty effective to me.

I've seen these at the local gun shows and have to admit they are pretty sweet looking. Anyone staring down the barrel of this beast who isn't scared out of their wits by it has no wits to begin with!

Real intimidating, isn't it?

Cheers! M2

They would be effective, depending on the effect you think they are supposed to have. If shallow, extremely messy wounds are what you are looking for, then that is likely what you will get. Could this stop an attack? I'd probably stop attacking, just if someone pointed a gun at me, but I'm not attacking you.

If penetration to a vital organ or part of the Central Nervous System that could help stop an attack is what you expect, it's very likely you wouldn't get it from .410 gauge shotshell loads. I wouldn't stake my lief on them, and neither would anyone in law enforecemnt. Impressive holes in cardboard targets, yes, but maybe unimpressive effects on a determined attacker, which will likely not be made of cardboard.
