Thoughts on the XD 45 Compact ....

I am really looking into getting a XD 45 Compact and I would like input from the peeps who have one. I want to use it as my daily carry.
With a 4 inch barrel I was a little concerned with bullet expansion, I carry Gold Dots short barrel for my 40sc. Besides Gold Dots what do you peeps think what would be some good carry ammo out of a 4 inch barrel .45acp ? How good is accuracy vs. other XDs ? Are the short 10 round mags more expensive ? Thanks guys please reply !

Here is some data with an even shorter barrel, the 3" Colt Defender.
This should give you a good selection.

The Win Ranger did very well in a short barrel, and it's what I use.

Love my 4" compact. I load mine with WWB 230gr jacketed hollow points and I feel just fine about it. No boutique ammo for me thank-you.

Thumbs up

Love mine so much I just sent it in for some refinishing and a set of Heine Straight 8's. GREAT SHOOTER! EXTREMELY accurate. A little big for summer conceal for me, but my Comp-Tac Hoslter keeps it close. Will DEFINATELY carry it in the winter - OWB, of course... My favorite holster (believe ot or not) is the Galco Matrix M7X... Close, tight, fits almost every belt (and XD which is a super-huge plus) and CHEAP!!!!!

Enjoy it!!!

P.S. I carry Cor-Bon 200-grain JHP +P's

I have a compact xd45 that i love. I am an enthusiastic new shooter, with close to 1000 rounds through it so far with not one failure of any kind.
It is very accurate. I am still working on a squeezing/tightening/flinching problem where i shoot low and to the right by around 3 or 4 inches(I'm lefty), which i confirmed was me, not the pistol last night. I asked the owner of the local range to put 5 rounds through it to see if i need more pratice or a sight adjustment, and he promptly shot out the bullseye of the target at 25 feet. I was hoping it was the sights lol.

I have a 5" Compact and it is one sweet shooting gun. I was planning on getting a 4" for a carry gun but that has been put on hold for awhile. You don't have to worry about expansion problems with a 4" gun. There is actually very little velocity change between a 4" and 5" barrel so anything that works in a 5" will work just as well in a 4". Problem don't begin to arise until the barrel length gets down around 3" which is why several companies have come out with special ammo for short barreled guns.

I have the XD45 compact and love it. Depending on what I'm wearing, I sometimes carry the 13 rounder, other times the 10 round mag. I haven't put any defensive ammo through it other than 200 gr. +P and 230 gr. GoldDots.
