Hi guys just want to share my experience last not of being pulled over by a LEO, was on my way home and almost to my house, when on the last 4way stop after turning right (and yes i have my signal on did a full stop instead of california stop

)there was a LEO going the other direction and then i saw him made a U turn and followed me, I'm like crap now what, i was just driving normally then all of a sudden he flashes his lights,pulled over to the sight, ha asked for my DL and what not, i comply and also informed him that i have a pistol and i gave him my CCW permit, he asked why am i carrying i just said for personal protection,so he did his and came back and just told me that every thing is okay and just make sure to fix my license plate light, uppertly it was burned out, I said i honestly have no idea that it was broken, so anyway i checked and see what is he talking about, and then he casually asked me whatam i carrying, i said "oh its my 1911 officers model" he's like 45acp good knocking down power, and then he said that he just bought an XD tactical in 45acp and he is looking for a holster that he can use with the light attached to the XD, I said blackhawk usually have some of those and he said he will look around online. so anyway, we ended up talking about guns and holsters and we apparently go to the same range, so went back to my car went home and look for my DL and I dont have it,I looked in my car empty my wallet and checked my pants nothing, so i called his dispatch and let them know that he may still have my DL, the dispatch person said that he will look in his car, but as of now nothing yet so i ende up getting a replacement DL becs i dont feel like driving with out one and having a pistol in the car..

great story except fo the lic loss i enjoy hearing leo that are good with a honest person having the right to carry an proetct himself, where about are you located?

forgive my ignorance, but what is a Leo? Simply a police officer?

That is a neat story. Question: did you inform him before or after you went for your wallet?

I only ask because i'm about to carry soon, if I'm pulled out I dont know if I should inform and then have him watch me reach for my wallet, or wallet, then inform him. Which would be the safer route?

Don't make any moves that the officer might be threatened by. Turn your interior light on and have your hands on the steering wheel at all times. After you have informed the officer that you are carrying concealed, ask if you can go for your wallet and tell him where it is.

Good story, unfortunately Blackhawk doesn't make a light bearing holster for the XD yet.

Oh well, glad you didn't get spanked for something you didn't do.

Sometimes, cops use the thinnest reason to pull someone over just to find out who you are.

I told him as soon as i gave my DL and i also gave him my CCW permit and told him where the pistol is located and kept my hand where he can see it..

Do you live in a state where you are required to declare you are carrying a weapon with your CCW permit? In WA, were I live, we are not required to declare if we are carrying, but it is prudent to tell the truth if you are asked by a police officer.

I've only been asked once, but the problem was much more than a simple traffic stop. It was a road rage incident where I was the victim while on my motorcycle.

well sounds like you did as we were taught here in ohio, ive read a lot of stories about this similair type of pull over . and most have been good . still you get the one cop and hes goin to prove his point,
