pancake concealment holster choices

I'm looking for an open top OWB pancake style leather belt holster to use with my XD45 in the colder months when I can wear a jacket. I'd love a custom holster, but I don't want to wait 6 months. The features I'm looking for are:

adjustable retention screws (is this necessary??)
body shield (maybe)
high & tight
good amount of forward cant
good weapon protection
good retention without using a thumb break or other retention device

So far I've narrowed down my choices to:

galco concealable

Don Hume open top H721
http://gunnersalley.zoovy.com/produc...(H721_OT).html

DeSantis speed scabbard
http://springfieldxdstore.com/pgroup...%26filter_4%3D

Fist #9 close cropped basic
http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/9.htm

The only holsters here with an adjustable retent screw are the desantis and the fist (custom order), but the desantis isn't made specifically for the XD45. It's really for the XD9/40, so I'm thinking it's probably not a good choice. I'm thinking a body shield will add some comfort, which makes the don hume look good, especially for the price. The galco is looking like my top choice here. I'm just wondering if the lack of adjustable tension should be a concern. I obviously don't want to have to worry about the weapon falling out if I am running or jumping.

So, opinions? I would like to order the holster and a belt asap, as I received my CCW in the mail a couple weeks ago. Thanks!

I have several Galco holsters/rigs and can say they are great. The pancake holster for my Walther PPK/S is one of my all time favorites.
Make sure you get a real gun belt (I use 1.5" black leather) to go with the holster.
You can't imagine what a difference that will make.
Good luck,

I have a Galco Fletch for my XD45 Service and a Don Hume 711 OT for my XD9SC. They are both great holsters. If I were forced to make a comment I would say the Don Hume's are a very good deal for the price. They are typically cheaper than the other readily available holsters. Significantly in some cases.

I can recommend the Don Hume 721. I use one for my XD 40 SC, and another for a Ruger SP101. This morning I ordered another one for an XD 45 compact. I like the Don Hume JIT slide also, mainly when I'm driving. The 721 holds the gun closer and higher though.

My nod would go to getting a system with the tension screw. I've had open top holsters get loose enough for the gun to flop out. IMHO I lean towards Blade Tech holsters these days because I got tired of the leather "creeeeeek" any time I moved. Most probably never noticed it but it makes me feel like I'm giving myself away. I notice when I hear others squeek and creeek by me. Just something to consider ymmv.

Galco's Concealable is an excellent choice and one I use a lot but the MSRP is $94.95 and they typically sell for $75.96.

There are numerous listings on the internet and I can't see any reason to pay more than that for one.

just ordered the galco concealable in black with a black galco SB3 belt. Thanks for all the recommendations.

Man, everybody is out of self defense hollow points in 230g 45. I snatched up a few boxes of Hornady TAPs... all the other popular stuff (hydra shoks, winchester SXTs, gold dots, etc) was out of stock.

Thanks for the links Rodder- I'm now eyeballing the Fist #12 leather for my XD45. I own a Galco cocealable for my 1911 Commander. You'll be happy.
