I think id rather buy a $200-$300 .22 plinker
The "split chamber" description giving the "felt recoil" is what I'm looking for in a conversion kit. That is exactly what is achieved with the conversion kit I use with my Colt 1911 Government. It allows me to practice firing more often with the same recoil, ejection and work toward getting my tight shot group with ammo that is a whole lot less costly.

After paying $27.00 for a box of 20 rounds of Speer Gold Dot JHP for my 4" XD and $300. for 1000 rounds to "break in" and get used to this daily carry, I'm more than willing to spend $200. for a kit that allows me to stay proficient with a single weapon. I'm not looking for a "plinker" necessarily, that's what I use my old Ruger Mk or 10/22 for.

WOW! TOTP! Woo Hoo! LOL

Turning worthless posts

Utilizing the same frame with conversion teaches grip, same sights yield same aim point even with a non 45 calibre equal recoil the first shot will still hit the target. The first shot can be the most critical, the added advantage of 45 equal recoil in the "ace 22" allows for training in reaquisition of sight picture... at a fraction of the cost of 45 ammo...which is the main line of this discussion...all shooting makes cleaning a requisite, XD has not produced a 22 or 22 magnum or most shooters who view at this site would own one.

It doesn't work QUITE that way. The kit would contain a SLIDE with all it's internals (barrell, extractor, springs, etc) and a .22 caliber magazine. Guess how many rounds that would hold in California. 10? Good guess.

With it being built for providing the same recoil as .45 caliber, all you are really simulating is the impact your round has against a solid target. If what your intending to do is get used to where you are going to hit on the target and adjust if you need to, it's can cost you a great deal less. Once you get your sight picture and trigger pull down to where you are hitting where you want, you should be able to do the same with the normal .45 slide and barrell.

I've used this successfully with my Colt .45 Govt and there is one I found one on the Net at ( http://glockstore.com/pgroup_descrip...ry_id%3D349%26 ) just so you can see what it is we're talking about. It's all about the difference in the cost of ammo from .45 ACP to .22 LR while you're getting things dialed in. All you're simulating is the cost difference.

And I guess an answer to this would be "It's an XD 45 with a .22 caliber conversion. Pretty smart, huh?" Another answer might be "Are you writin' a book?"

I just ran across a post from earlier this year
From shot show-XD .22 conversion kit available in late 2007
Looks like maybe the end of the year. I'll be looking.

Sorry MODS for not catching the other thread earlier.
