Loaded Chamber Indicator Problem.
My loaded chamber indicator on my XD45 likes to stay slightly in the up position even when the chamber is empty. Anyone else having this problem. I have really tried to clean all around it as much as possible in case there was some small dirt/dust maybe blocking, but it still stays slightly up.

Mine did the same thing until I got under the indicator with a toothpick and gunscrubber and got the krud out.

After about 100 rounds of Green Dot/LRN loads, my chamber indicator is almost stuck in the up position. A dental pick, a small patch, and some Hoppes #9 will do the trick for me most times. This thread dealt with a similar problem. May be worth checking out given that it seems simple enough to take out and check.

Squirt some Hoppes in the area around the indicator and lift it up and down. Keep squirting it in as you move the indicator and you will see the black gunk run out. You can also use a cleaner such as Break Free Powder Blast to clean it out which will do the job pretty fast. I use non-chlorinated brake cleaner which is about the same thing and much cheaper than the gun stuff. Read the ingredients on both cans and you will see what I mean. It is mostly just acetone and you can use that too. Make sure you read the precautions on the cans.

mine did the same thing and it was the buildup of powder residue. it was really simple to pop the pin out and remove the indicator to completely get all the gunk out. took less than 5 mins to disassemble, clean and re-assemble. by the way i am no gunsmith so anyone should be able to pull it off.

Just goes to show that no safety device is too safe. Just remember, the chamber indicator is for reference only. Never trust it. There is no alternative for pulling that slide back.
