Suppressors are definitely nice. Mine's an SWR HEMS. AAC is coming out with the BlackBox that's supposed to have the best dB ratings so if you want the highest performance go with that. Because of personal experience with the company SWR's won my loyalty.
Law abiding citizens over the age of 21 in the US may purchase machine guns, suppressors, short barreled rifles/shotguns, and/or destructive devices that are registered under the NFA through a Class III dealer by doing some paperwork. You have to pay a one-time $200 tax stamp transfer fee and submit photos/fingerprints in duplicate then wait for the background check to clear. Here is a good link on info for you. State laws vary and may void the right to ownership guaranteed under the US Constitution. This is why I don't consider places like Kalifornia part of the US anymore. I fortunately live in a Free State in a Free Country. |

My favorite accessory is 1,000 rounds of ammo. . . too bad it doesn't last long.

Many Pistol suppressors actually have a recoil-booster built in to ensure they cycle properly, mine does. The suppressor ads a fair amount of weight to the muzzle. Some people are talking about how much reduced muzzle flip they have gotten from adding a heavier guide rod, it's similar to that. Some suppressors are light enough that they can cycle some semi-autos without a booster though.
Personally, my SWR reduces felt recoil nicely. It sure doesn't feel like a .45acp. I've noticed no POI change with it on and believe any well made suppressor will not only have no noticable effect on POI for a pistol but actually improve groupings. Threaded barrels can be had from many different sources, I'm ordering one from EFK Firedragon for my XD. For the end-all, be-all resource on suppressors check out the forums at www.silencertalk.com/forums (many of the designers/manufacturers for the industry's best suppressors are members there). |

first, silencers can be had starting around 150 dollars (for a .22), so you shouldn't have to save for long. gemtech site gemtech's .45 suppressor runs about 500 dollars.
second, my favorite two accessories: Milt Sparks Versa Max II for the XD:http://www.miltsparks.com/ RCBS Reloader: Mine

I do recommend saving up and getting the best suppressor you can. Once you do it will be worth every penny. I do have to warn you, the NFA hobby is highly addicting.

The best thing to add to an XD is ammo and trigger time!!

Yeah, I'd suggest a trigger job and extended mag release by Springer Precision, maybe some Dawson Precision adjustable sights too... and while your at it go ahead and order a Dawson Precision DP Ice Magwell for it
