Damn MGD... good that you're OK. How come they didn't take all the bullet shards out of your arm? Won't that cause lead poisoning over time?

Glad to hear that little tard got a life sentence.

Going back a few pages, I don't think we can really make an argument that the 1911 won WWII...more like the M1, Thompson, and BAR.

Why the 45

For the old timers its as simple as this. We cut our teeth so to say on the 1911A1 and learned to field strip it in 30 to 60 second in the dark. We slepet with it, ate with it, and of course in a pinch fought for out lives with it. We could come ashore through sand and salt water and know that not only could we count on the 45 to do some serious damage, but even with the grit and grime it had picked up. We could count on it when the chips were down. And face it, if your going to throw anything, be it a rock or a bulet, you darn sure want it to be as big of one as you can mange.

What's not to like about it?

I like and own almost all makes of firearms. Sig, Beretta, XD(9 and 45), Smith, Glock, HK and CZ, and soon maybe a Stoeger. Multiples of almost each manufacturer.

I've tried or owned them ALL. Glocks are fantastic firearms, and can be whipped to $hit and still operate. The Glock 21 is a great, accurate handgun with a heck of a reputation for service reliability. I love the SF model, and have been wanting one.

Just like I like an XD-45, I like the Glock 21.

I do not discrimiante against guns. They all need love, even if they are kinda ugly.

I asked the Doctor the same question and his response was, "if the pieces don't hurt you, then I don't want to cut you open anymore than necessary...becuz surgery is really a controlled injury to the body, & if it's not needed then I would rather not do it."

If in the future, the pieces start to hurt, then they can take them out.

What's not to love.
230gr X 14!
3220grs of mad .45cal. (Very nearly half a pound of projectile.)
Sure helped my decision to buy.

I was originally looking at a 1911 but didn't want to spend the money on a good one with night sights for my first semi auto and carry gun...so after shooting an XD40sc, I was really interested in the XD lineup, but I knew I was going to get a 1911 eventually and didn't want to worry about multiple calibers. However, now that I have my XD45 compact, which was my first semi auto, I'm really looking at several others and the calibers aren't all .45 acp so it won't matter now, but that was my original thought. I just like how long the .45 acp has been around and how effective it is. All the other reasons mentioned about minimum diameter, etc. have already been mentioned.
