As usual TV got a few details wrong....but it's basically what happened.

DAMN! That had to be a long ass 4 minutes for you and everyone involved. I have much admiration and respect for you and all LEO's and will be going through academy soon.

Kids these days..... Glad you came out alive man!

With all due respect, I've shot living critters with 9mm, 357 Sig, 40 S&W, and 45 out of various pistols, and the 9mm in no way stands up to the 45. I don't care what load you poke out of a 9, it will not demolish large bones like a 45. A 9 will usually stop in a shoulder knuckle on a goat while the 45 smashes it to pieces and continues on to penetrate the vitals. Same with the pelvis. If you break the pelvis, the bad guy goes down...no structure to support him. A 9 won't reliably bust up this deep, tough bone. The 45 will.

I'm not denigrating the 9. It is a fine defensive round and I'm not ignorant enough to claim that a bad hit with a 45 is better than a solid hit with the nine. However that .355 inch bullet will never be able to do all the things a .452 inch slug weighing 60-100% more can do. Simple physics deny it, not to mention real-world results.

Probably the fact that it's a Glock, which is without a doubt a great proven design..after all the XD didn't take it's design from Beretta.

Plus being a Glock, there are tons of after market parts immediately available to order for emergency repairs, unlike the XD where ya have to send it off to Springfield...

.45 ACP 13 rounds, just like the XD, what's not to like....other than the different grip angle.....Please don't kick me off the website now for my atrocious statments!!!

Thanks alot! Yeah, it felt like an eternity...... I learned a great lesson though that everyone should take to heart. No matter what you THINK, ACTION is faster than REACTION. I had always been told that in my career, but never thought about it.

I had my gun out in front of me in a low ready position (finger outside trigger guard) & pointed at a man who was kneeling down with his back to me. He pivoted around toward me, and popped of a shot from his hips. I saw the profile of the gun as it swung around, but before my mind could register the threat and make my body respond, it was too late.

I bet most of us in here would be under the belief that if you already had your gun out and pointed at someone, that you'd have the upper hand. Amazingly enough, it not always true....tuff lesson to learn, but one I preach to the new guys everyday.
