I could type a lot on the whole incident, but Court TV did a story on it so, I'll just link it here... Basically, I'm LEO and I was backing up a Deputy in a chase that ended in a crash.....driver shot me from about 4 ft. away....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWPUqzDq9LM

As usual TV got a few details wrong....but it's basically what happened.

Crazy. Glad they put that kid away. I definitely couldn't be a Leo. Id be brought up on abuse charges for kicking the suspect while he was already down and shot.

Yeah, the guy was very lucky that Deputy Barnett had great training & restraint, cuz he could've easily popped a round into his head at the end...Dep. Barnett shot him 4 times, once in the back of the head and the other three were leg shots.

The head shot was more like a furrow/ricochet that bounced off the rear of his head. I also teased him that if they didn't carry the 9mm & had been using something else like .40 or .45, he could've ended it sooner!!

Anyway, I asked him later on after seeing the videotape, " It must be hard to walk around with that wheel barrel carrying your BIG BRASS BALLS!!!"

Read up on the drugged up attackers in the Phillippines and how ineffective the small round the soldiers used was. It was the reason the Army went back to the .45, in fact they are considering going back to the .45 because the 9mm...well sucks at killing Hadji's.
And you know that is with ball ammo. Our military cannot use 9mm defensive rounds like we can. Comparing 45 to 9mm ball is kinds lame. 9mm with modern defensive rounds will stand up with a 45. Now unless you carry ball ammo...well then you can use that argument.

That's funny. You have just proven you don't know crap about firearms.

Glock 9mm...When Dep. Barnett made the first shot, he actually shot thru the back of the rear window on the truck aiming at the shooter's head. The shooter was bent over leaning in the truck trying to get another magazine for his 1911, when the bullet skimmed the back of his head.

This knocked him backwards and out of the truck, but he fell next to my gun.... So he picked it up & started shooting with it.

I can honestly say, that although the .45 knocked me backwards and completely destroyed my right arm making it useless it didn't completely stop me. I was able to roll and scramble about 15 yards and then stand up and move another 20 yards to cover.

I was able to use my other arm to operate my radio and give out information during the shootout. If I hadn't been bleeding so badly, I would've pulled my backup and got back into the fight.

But I was losing a lot of blood from an artery that was nicked, so I chose not to & headed toward the road to where another Officer was arriving for a tourniquet to stop the bleeding...

So yeah, getting shot doesn't always mean you will stop anyone in their tracks.....

Could have been worse!

230 gr speer gold dot leaving a 6.5" barrel at 1800 FPS(verified on 3 different chronographs) making 1650 FTLBS of muzzle energy.
LAR Grizzly 45winchester Magnum, Starline brass, VV N110 powder. Tests in balistics gel show reliable expansion to .96/.97 Dia with 95% weight retension. Std size blocks of gel explode after 3" of penetration. This is one 45 you won't get up from a hit to a limb! Center Mass or Head shot, bought and paid for! Accuracy? I have taken whitetail at a measured 142 yards standing iron sight shot. At 100 yards from a bench 2.5" 5 shot groups are normal.
Next time I test a batch I will have someone video it.
