Compact .45 w/ Bi-Tone??

This does not appear to be an option.

I want an XD with the stainless slide (4" barrel - Service length) but I want it compact (not long grip).

Will Springfield be coming out with anything to meet my fancy?

If you find that they are available, LET ME KNOW!!!!! I've been holding out for one but they haven't come to market yet that I've seen. Pics that you see of one are likely someone lucky enough to have the standard model as well as compact and swapped the slides on them. Don't know how much longer I can hold out.

I shot an email to Springfield about the availability of this in the future. The reply:

"We will announce the new product line up around Jan/Feb of next year. You might check back then. We do not know ourselves until the new catalog is released."

So now I sit back, take another slug off my coffee cup and wait. I just don't know if I can hold back another 5 months to find out that it may not be offered. Ohh bother

If you're looking for a caliber other than 45 for a 'compact' you're outta luck unless you do get a 'service' size, do a grip chop and send it in for custom refinishing. The 9/40 can be had in sub-compact sizes only and should already be available in Bi-Tone.

Remember, whenever a product is announced, you most likely will have to wait even a few more months after the fact, it's fairly tough to get it in consumer hands right away, as this is the firearms market - not the electronics industry.

If you are referring the 45c, check this post for some info that might help you achieve the look you're going for.

True, after announcement I wouldn't be supprised for it to take quite a while. I think it would be a hot seller making it even harder to find.

I've considered a grip chop as well as buying two guns and selling one off later also. That may cost less in the long run than sending it for a refinish. Then again if the melonite finish is as tough as some say . . . . I should just get one now and enjoy it as is.
