Back again

Well, I'll start by confessing...a while back I sold my XD45 in favor of something else (can't even remember what now!) but today I went out and ordered a new XD45 compact. I'm intrigued by the short grip with the standard size barrel. Am I making a good choice here? Everything I've read indicates this is the "almost perfect" .45. I did love my .45 service, and I'm still kicking myself for selling it; to be honest, I was torn between the XD and the S&W M&P45, to go with the M&P9 I already have. I just really like the way the XD feels, and if the compact shoots as well as my old service, I'll be a happy camper indeed.

Anyway, I'm back in the XD fold, and plan to stay here...maybe even add a 9 and a .40 in the future!

I really like my XD.45C. No complaints. I'd bet you'll like it, too.

I love the compact!
Good accuracy out of the box!
Enjoy!

Well, now I'm really bummed . I just talked to my dealer, and apparently he doesn't have a distributor that has any .45 compacts available. He's telling me it may be A YEAR before he can get any.

Anybody know a good place I can get one at a good price? My local Gander Mountain has one, but they want $599 for it; my preferred dealer has the service model for $529, and a night-sighted model for $579, but no compacts. I suppose I could go for the service model, but I really wanted the compact. Any ideas?

Thanks everyone!

That is EXACTLY what the store I used to frequent told me. They are the largest and most well known public and police supplier in my area. I then drove to another shop, a new one to me, and the guy thought for a second, called his distrubutors while I stood right there, found two, and told me he'd have them in his store the next day - sure enough he called me the next morning and told me one of them was sitting waiting with my name on it.

I almost gave up. Don't give up, look around! Also, if you like the service but know you want the compact, it is of course worth it to find a compact because then you will have both!

The XD-45C will be perfect when you can buy a Don's Guide Rod and a Pearce grip extension. For now it is just "almost perfect".

Well, I'm not so bummed anymore...my local dealer, who said I'd have to wait A YEAR for a .45 compact forced me to look elsewhere. Well, I went to Gander Mountain, they not only had one in their display case, when I told the sales guy I wanted it, he went in the back and brought me out a brand, spankin' new, untouched by human hands, still sealed in the box, .45 compact! Although Gander's prices are high, I guess if you really want something, you have to be willing to pay...uh-uh...not me...I told the guy at Gander what the other dealer had his priced at, and he matched the price! So, I have my .45 compact on layaway, at a decent price, and I get to pick it up when I get my big overtime check next week! Now to stock up on magazines, ammo, more magazines, more ammo...
