My XD tends to jump around more than my .454. It doesn't kick as hard, it just flips worse. It does fall right back on target with the sights aligned though, so no complaints.

You can go with lighter bullets and lighter loads -- which pretty much defeats the purpose of having a 45 ACP in the first place. Read up about grip, stance, etc. That's important stuff. The other suggestion would be to practice shooting. Practice will help you become accustomed to the recoil.
The only gun I can't get "accustomed" to the recoil on is a Ruger No. 1 in 45-70 Govt. Small carbine, 350 gr. bullet w/ 56 gr. H 4895. Ouch! |
