You are limited to 10 rounds maximum mag capacity in CA. If you are online shopping for mags that can be sent to you, than only look for 10 round mags. For example: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpag...eitemid=519600

Do not even try to get someone to sell you high cap mags and ship them to CA, that is against the law (unlike the limits on your rights imposed by elected idiots that use legislation to make CA a "safer place to live").

Abiding my CA law, you still have 11 shots in the XD, should be enough for any purpose. My son's 45 tactical came with 2 10 round mags. My 45 compact came with a 'short' 10 round, and a 'long' 10 round adding 3/4" to the length of grip.

Thundergrunt, I went through this too. Learned that the CA mags have a crimp in them along the side that crunches the magazine capacity down to 10. Although, illegal to do so, if you buy mags outside of CA they do not have this crimp and you will get 13 rounds. Modifying your original mags (not recommended) would also be illegal in our "police state" Check out Midway or Brownells online and you can have a family member ship them to you from outside of CA (also illegal).

Any ideas or encouragement to violate the law should not be done in a public forum, for very obvious reasons, one of which is a violation of this site's Code of Conduct.

If you have not already purchased the 45XD Service you should find out the XD product number and check the California DOJ web site and make sure that product Number is on the list for you to legally purchse in Califofornia. Only certain product numbers that come with 10 round magazines are legal for sale in California. If you are not certain about this check with the dealer who is going to do the transfer and the DROS to make sure you can legally buy the weapon in California before you spend your money. Welcome to Kalifornia.
