It is easier/cheaper to change the part # and packaging than make another skew of the their product I guess. The Trijicon sights I've seen labeled for the XD all look like the would fit the Sigs perfectly.

I'm communicating with Eric at Trijicon, he has my pics, and he is going to investigate tomorrow. Apparently there is an XD in house for a sight installation, so he's going to check it out. I will follow up.

Why would you "re-design" a product if you didn't have to. The "gap" causes no functional issues. Also, designing a sight without a gap with the tolerances that are held in a $500 gun that isn't a pain to install is another issue in itself.

I just had S/A install some Trijicons on my 40 while they replaced the trigger bar spring and refinished it under warranty. I can slip 3 sheets of paper under the front and rear sights, I measured the sheets with a micrometer and got 0.0125. I've got no problem with this, and I see no way of this causing any additional chance of snagging. Unless of course you're running your gun through someones hair, which will only pull the hair out, YEOW!

I use Sig sights on my XD 45 service model. The reason being I can shoot better with the Sig contrast rear sight. I have trouble with three dot sights because I am getting older and can't focus on them well. The dot the "I" system is easier for me. I used a #10 rear contrast and a #8 front SigLight to keep the POA correct. The front night sight makes close range quick shots possible in low light.

Being from Reno, we don't have a rust problem but it seems to me that for those who live in high humidity, this gap may be a blessing as long as shooting low isn't isn't a problem with them.
I could see that area under the sight being a hidden rusting spot unless you can get CLP under there or something. Which brings another question; has anyone removed their stock sights only to find the dovetail rusting? Thoughts?

Just a follow-up. I contacted Trijicon of their web site on 9/5 concerning SP01 fit and gap between the sight and slide. Now 9/17 and I have not received a reply.

Like most companies, unless you call and talk to a person, you get nothing. I can't tell you how many companies I have sent messages to using THEIR web sites and never heard back. I'd make a phone call if you really want your answer.
