Blackhawk Serpa Question
Hello All,
New guy here. I just purchased a Serpa for my XD-45 and have a question about the holster. Does it have a "plastic spring" that pushes against the bottom of the light rail/dust cover? I have a Serpa for my P2000 and it has a "spring" that pushes against both the front of the trigger guard and the bottom of the light rail. The "spring" in the Serpa for the XD only pushes against the front of the trigger guard. The XD rattles around in the holster where as the P2000 doesn't. Mike |

Can't help you, I got the non-Serpa Blackhawk.

Take a close look at your new holster. On the lower side, just ahead of the release lever is a phillips head machine screw. Put your unloaded pistol in the holster & adjust that screw untill you get the fit & feel that suits you. Turn it in, turn it out, pull & holster the firearm untill you like how the holster works. I Like mine very much.

I've already adjusted the passive tension. The pistol is still loose in the holster.
The passive retention is different from the spring I'm asking about. With my P2000 holster I can back off the passive tension completely and the pistol still fits snugly because of the spring pushing against the light rail/dust cover. |

I have a Blackhawk Serpa for my 45 compact, and after adjusting the allen screw for 'tightness', it does not rattle around at all.

I asked my question on another forum and a member there has the same issue as I do. I guess that's the way it's suppose to be.

My SERPA ("carbon fiber") for my 1911 fits like a glove with no rattle. It seems solid, and the gun snaps into the retention key with a solid sounding "click".
My SERPA ("carbon fiber") for my M9 does what yours is doing. The gun goes into the retention key with an un-solid sounding "clunk" and it rattles within the holster. I can tighten the passive retention screw to limit the rattle, but at that point it becomes very hard to pull the gun. I also understand what you're saying about the retainer springs designed to hold the gun firmly, and you are correct that they have nothing to do with the passive retention (screw) or the active retention (trigger-guard lock). I understand your concern completely, but I don't know what to tell you. You might see what Blackhawk says about it, and if you do let us know...I'm interested.

I have asked this question before about Blackhawk tactical rigs www.xdtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48065 - Blackhawk does not list the XD series at all for the SERPA holster, so which model fits the XD45 4" Service or Compact? Glock 22? or what? What SERPA did you order?

I just purchased a Blackhawk CQC SERPA holster for my XD-9's, and they, too, rattle around a little. I have not adjusted the screw as of yet, so once I do, that may correct the "looser" fit inside the holster. The retention system keeps a great grip on the gun, too. It's just a little loose in the holster. My holster says "Springfield XD" on it so I know it's for the XD. I had asked the gun store guy where I bought it. He was sure it would fit the 9mm, 40, and 357.. but he wasn't 100% about the XD-45. I would think Blackhawk would know for sure....
Edited to add: I just emailed Blackhawk w/ these questions and concerns. I'll let you know what they say.
