I contacted Blackhawk about the SERPA CQC XD45 fit and they informed me:

I was elk hunting last week, and carrying my XD45 since NE Oregon is notorious cougar (attack) country. Anyway, sitting over a wallow (wet spot in the dry pine forest) for hours I got bored, and cut some moleskin from by backpack into 1/2 inch squares, and stuck them inside the Blackhawk. Not that there was a problem with a rattle, but it took all slack out of the fit of the gun in the holster.

I followed Dave's lead and requested a spring for my holster.
I just got it in the mail. The fit is much better. No more moleskin for me. |

I just received the spring in the mail. It contains a loop under the barrel of the XD that pushes the top of the slide tighter against the holster. I took off the moleskin, fit is really nice. Great customer service, and thanks for the heads-up that it was available.

I got the replacement spring in the mail today. The small amount of rattle I had is no more.
Props to Blackhawk! |

I remember when mine was shiny and black, before I attacked it with 2 cans of flat, camo Krylon paint and some leaves from a bush to make a camo pattern since I wear it when I bowhunt. I put a piece of non-slip tape on the piece you push-in to release the gun, I don't know if it makes a big difference, but it's easy to find the "button" when it's on your hip.
