Looks to me like his is just a different finish. Carbon Fiber vs. Matte Black . . . just like different paint for cars. Different look, same performance.

I think so too. I call it the "seriously serious" look.

When I get mine, it will be the matte black. Carbon fiber just doen't do it for me. I hope it works out though...

I have the Matte Black SERPA for my XD and I love it. The retention has a nice "click" to it when I holster my XD, and there is little to no noise. The gun does have a little forward and back movement, but not much. (we are talking about less than the thickness of a nickle). The retention device holds firmly and I have never had a problem holster or drawing my weapon.

update

I received an email from Blackhawk regarding the loose fit of some XD's inside the holster. They're sending me a "rail adapter spring" for it, which they believe should correct the rattling problem.

So, for those of you who have a loose fit issue, contact this person. She's the one who has the springs:

While on the topic, I put some skateboard no-slip tape on the grips of my XD45 (it's camo), and used a small pair of scissors to cut out a piece to match the piece of the Serpa which releases the gun. When reading down to the gun, it makes your trigger finger find the right spot to push a bit easier. Not necessary, but for $6 for the whole sheet, it was probably 5 cents worth of material for the project.
