i would recomend switching back to stock parts before you send it back its not hard to swap the parts out, also if your dont have the stock parts be sure to let SA know you have a trigger job if you tell them springer did it they should leave it alone if you dont tell them they could think a stock part isnt up to their safty standards and they will replace them

Sorry to hear your XD might be a defect. Springfield is great for Customer Support so they should take care of it for you.

I know how you feel with "has to be mine out of umpteen of the things". Same for my Ruger .22. It's been at the club waiting to be fixed by the Ruger Authorized Depot longer than I had it here at home. Not Ruger's fault but the local depot. I've fired plenty of other Ruger Marks (I, II & III's) and mine was one of the rare ones to have a defect in the bolt release. Oh, well....

Best of luck. Once you get your XD fixed, I'm sure you'll be as happy with it as the rest of us.

Honestly the factory XD mag are some of the best out there, that is why you don't see many aftermarket manufacturers of XD mags. Just curious is this your first semi auto pistol?

This is my first pistol.

I just got off the phone with SA and they told me to send it all in. How do yall recommend I ship this thing? Put the hard case and all in a box or what?

Thanks,
Jesse

Take the hard case into UPS or Fedex unboxed and obviously unloaded without a mag in it. They should be able to guide you from there. It has to be shipped next day from a Hub so you can't ship it from a Kinko's or something. I would also look up and take with you a printoff of the firearms shipping policy from either UPS or Fedex.

Best of Luck to You!

+1

Return to stock first. Then send it in to SA. When it comes back, through a few hundred rounds down range before reinstalling the kit just to make sure everything is good to go.

It must be a fluke or ammo. My XD 45 service is the first thing I have ever purchased that hasn't broken or been defective. Usually every time I purchase something I have to take it back and get a replacement. Good luck with your XD.

The reason I asked if this was your first semi auto is a thing called limp wristing that can cause the same thing you discribed. Many people new to the semi auto are unaware of this condition. Basically it means that as the gun recoils the shooters wrists flex back to absorb the shock, this reduces the return spring pressure needed to eject the spent casing and load the next round. Many single action revolver shooters have a difficult time getting use to this because they use the rocking motion to help position them in cocking the hammer. If you get a chance to shoot again before you send your gun to SA try reducing your wrist flex and see if this helps. Make sure your hand is as high on the grip as possible so you absorb the shock more straight back that rocking up. If it doesn't, then you will at least know your problem is not due to limp wristing.

I just thought of one other thing, are you using factory ammo and is your guide rod spring stock weight. Light loads and a heavy spring will cause problems as well.

This is the well known reason they banned semi-autos in San Francisco; limp wristing.
