I found these onusing "search".
There is a list here, somewhere that shows what IS available, it's been some time since I have seen it tho. tec vbmenu_register("postmenu_102302", true); XDTalk 5K Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Holland Ohio Posts: 5,756 Re: springfield refuse to sell me a striker dampening spring I just composed a nice email to S.A., Hopefully they will respond quickly, when they do, I will post the answer here. Here is a copy of what I sent them, yes I know that some of you (_!_) O's will complain about what I asked, tuff. Mr. Dennis J. Reese Co Chairman of the Board Springfield Armory Dear Sir. Let me start out by saying that I own a XD, model XD9701, the V-10 version, and I love it. I have no problems with it at all. I found your name at the bottom of the Limited Lifetime Warranty card (owner copy). I am a member of the XD Forum on line at http://www.hs2000talk.com/index.php . There is much discord among many of the members about the recent action on your part regarding parts availability. The following post is just one of some of the posts about this mater http://www.hs2000talk.com/viewtopic.php?p=254363#254363. Being an XD owner, this matter does concern me also, I however, am a paper killer / target shooter, so being without my XD while it goes into the shop, if needed, is no biggie to me. But many of the members do carry their XD daily, and this is a prime concern for them, understandably so. My question for Springfield Arms is this, hopefully you can answer this for me, as I count on posting your response on the forum to quell some of the other members concerns of lack of parts: 1.) What is the cause of S.A.'s recent decision to not send out parts to XD owners? 2.) Is this a permanent decision / action? 3.) Is the repair time going to increase from the currently reported repair time of 2 to 5 weeks. Also, on a different tack: A.) Is there going to be a "drop in" trigger replacement that can lighten / reduce the trigger pull? (this is for my own curiosity) If, do to legal reasons, you can't answer the above questions, please do us the honor of posting a response in the XD forum to help quell the unrest and feelings of abandonment by Springfield Armory. Please give us something MORE then, "we are currently not sending out parts, if you need service, send your handgun to...". Many forum members feel that this is the end of the XD line, that S.A.'s is going to drop the line of weapon, hopefully this is not true, as there are many satisfied owners out there who would not be happy to own a orphan. Many forum members rave how Glock and Sig arms have expansive parts available to their handguns, Hopefully Springfield Armory will go back to this also. Thanks in advance for your response. I called today because my retaining pin is starting to get slightly warped by dry fire repetitions and my spring should be replaced every so often. I started with a customer service representative. I asked to order those two parts, with the manual handy in case she needed part numbers from the manual or something. She indicated those were on the do not sell list and she could not issue a sale. Very courteous. I explained that I knew it was not her fault but that those were consumable parts and I could not understand why they wouldnt sell them, could she explain. She explained that for liability reasons they cannot sell those directly to the public. I again explained I knew it was not her and she had been very helpful but may I speak to a supervisor about this situation? I was connected within seconds to drew. Drew reiterated the same and was very courteous about the whole deal. I explained why I was calling and why I was wanting the parts and the problem that I had with it. Basically with being unable to directly order those parts I have no recourse but to send my handgun in for repair every X number of rounds. I explained that every time the striker releases without a snapcap, it is caught by the retaining pin which over time causes a wear in the form of deforming the pin slightly. Further, in the course of regular use, your dampening spring is under constant strain with a compression and decompression after every round. As with anything mechanical, after every X times 1000 number of rounds, you have to replace them and the current policy essentially means I have to lose my handgun for a couple weeks to get them fixed. He agreed that he could understand how that would make thing difficult but there are 9 parts that they cannot sell right now and explained that they have had some problems with improper installation by the end user and further that it had been determined that springfield may have some legal liability if an improper installation leads to a malfunction. I asked him if there was someone I could talk to or email to express my problem with this policy and explain why this wont work and he said that he would have one of the managers at the custom shop give me a call in the next 48 hours, I can explain the problem to him and what I would like to do and he may either be able to tell me another way to go about it it, order the parts for me, or tell me the next step. I thanked drew and then asked what the do not sell parts are so that I dont have to go through this again if one of them messes up, I will just know up front the part isnt availible. Drew indicated these are the do-not-sell parts: Slide Barrel Striker Safety Retaining Pin Striker Dampening Spring Striker Striker Safety Striker Safety Spring Striker Retaining Pin Extractor My final question to him was whether there were any aftermarket suppliers for these parts if springfield will not make them availible. He indicated to check with pistol-gear.com because they carry most of the aftermarket products availible for the XD. I will update when I hear back from the custom shop. With any luck I will find a way to order these so I dont have to send my "old" XD40 back for warranty repair.

Well, they sure fed you a load of horse manure!
I called them a couple months ago because my firing pin retaining pin broke and I launched my firing pin dampening spring across my yard with a blast of air when i was cleaning my slide. I called SA about it and they charged me for both parts and promptly sent them out in the mail. I think all together it was less than 20.00, im thinking around 12.00. Don also sent me several retaining pins and I would be happy to send you one if you are in need. This is why I am done purchasing SA products until they change their tune. I do enjoy 3 of the guns I currently own with their name on them but will never own another. OPPS, I just saw that your reposting something that was old

yeah this is one of the reasons i havent gotten a .45 XD. i want things that are "fixable", having the parts to repair most things on a weapon is IMO just like having extra batteries for flashlights (especially tac lights that eat the 123's). of course without the knowledge to get in there and know what im doing, a tool or replacement parts are useless.
still now that i almost have my main three: ***WISH LIST IN RED*** *mossy 500A pistol grip w/heatsheild and 6 round sidesaddle- Knox stock and Surefire light/pump grip. *XD40 sub-compact w/ XL2 and night sights- Doctor red dot *Bushmaster XM-15 E2S 5.56/.223, 1:9, chrome lined fluted barrel w/ Surefire M-900 weapon light/foregrip (tan) ,EoTech 553 , dual mag-cinched HK 30 rnd mags, CAA battery storage/cheek weld stock, ergo grip and most importantly a good set of well used(80% of firing time) iron sights.Tritium iron spring accuated sights(CMMG?), EoTech 3x magnifier w/ spring"out" mount. Vltor stock(tan). krink rebar cutter flash hider. I WANT PARTS!!! if im off somewhere or in some crap situation that only allows me to fix the weapon if i already have the parts(weapons bans) or the always popular SHTF scenerio. plus its just not right to NOT be able to fix your own firearms if needed! just un American to me. dont get me wrong i cant fix my weapons past small little Dremel procedures, but i am planning to go to some classes, learn to take care of my AR by way of cousins coming back from iraq and the always hit and miss DVD's. im going to call and let Springfield know...another very satisfied owner and let down customer at the same time! are they gonna lend me a gun to carry while they install some 5 min job-NO. glad i saw this thread, been sick with pnemonia for a few weeks and trying to catch up!
