Hello All, I can not seem to find an XD 45 Compact locally to handle one, so I am enlisting the help of forum members who own a XD 45 Compact. I own a 45 Tactical, and an XD 9 service, so how does the grip on the compact fit? I like the grip on the service a little better than the Tactical full size grip, Can someone with average size hands get all bottom 3 fingers on the grip (no hanging in the air pinky) with the regular magazine? and with the extended mag is the grip as long as the full size tactical? Thanks for the help.

OK my right hand of I measure the width of all 4 fingers across where they join the palm(at the base of the pinky) is 3.25 ", if I go clear back by the thumb my palm measures almost 4".
I did grip a compact xd-45 this weekend at gander mountain, and I did not find any of my hand hanging off the grip even with no magazine inserted. Grasping my 4" xd-45 service model in a normal shooting grip leaves an honest 1/2" "extra" grip there with a normal 13 round magazine inserted. I do not have a compact YET to measure According the Springfield the full size xd-45 grip is 5.75" and the compact is 5" They say the xd service 9x19 has a 5.5" grip, sub compact has 4.75" grip. My hand fits perfectly with the compact mag in place.
With the extended mag, no problem either. Though it is only 3/4" shorter, it does make a difference when I CCW, IWB. mrwildroot

Well I have been told that I have medium to large hands. Depending on who is doing the talking. I own an XD-45ACP Compact and I can get my 2 3/4 finger on the grip with the mag in the well. If the mag isnt in the well then 2 1/2 of my fingers on the grip. Even with this situation I do not have any problems shooting or controlling my XD. Hope this helps a little

I'd say my hands are medium or so and I have no problem at all getting a full grip on the compact. Felt like the gun was made for me.

Ditto - large hands, I van get a full grip, and it feels great. In fact, the full size grip feels huge, like a king-size bed.
Edit: My pinky is hooked into the mag as well, as detailed by Bilt4Comfort, below me.

I have medium hands I would say, cannot get a full grip, but my pinky gets hooked on the bottom of the 10 rd mag just enough. The xcap is huge enough that I could fit 2 pinkys on it if I had an extra digit.

I have med/large hands with short fingers. The Compact fits my mitts perfectly, right down the the end of the pinky.
As a comparison, the G19 (compact glock) is about 1/4 inch shorter than the XD compact. and my pinky hangs halfway off of it. I have a Service model, but don't find it nearly as comfortable as the Compact with the 10rd mag...it's like a glove, that's why i bought 2 of 'em
