Open class XD45

Anyone have one set up that pushes into open class?? I will as soon as I put the FastFire on it and when the backordered ported barrel shows up. Along with the Arrendondo +3 mag extensions.
Im waiting to see if Im going to have to cut off part of the bottem of the BladeTech DOH holster to let it fit.
Pics will be posted when Im done.
This is going to be for 3 gun since Im planning on starting to use a Saiga shotgun which will also push me into open class.

Your going to have a 16-17 round open gun? STI, para, and glocks are running 28 rounds. I dont know what kind of ported barrel you are using but normaly barrel ports alone will not be enough to comp the gun. I would recomend having a comp built for it and also choosing a 9mm and running it at major PF.

Yeah, all the open guns I've ever seen are 38 supers 9's or 40's. Never seen a open 45 that could be sweet. I shoot my 45 in limited and can shoot just as fast as those open dudes though, so go for it.

This is where I run into the pure gammers who say to go the full open route.
First, Im not in contention to beat Burkett even if you made him shoot a revolver.
Second for anyone who doesnt shoot 3gun/multigun most matches use the pistol in half or less usally of the stages, or in the case of multigun you may be using it but in conjunction with a rifle or shotgun in the stage which means your pistol round count will be substantially less than a regular USPSA pistol match/stage. Many stages like this a 16 round mag will do, but there are pistol only stages. That is where I concede a definate disadvantage. But you can make up the ground sometimes on the rifle and shotgun stages if your stronger with those. I am, but still not likely to take the match win.
Lastly I shoot for fun and want to shoot the guns I like not what I think will let me win. Im a 45ACP guy and had originaly intended to do this with a L10 1911 and just add the dot for my eyes since I was going to use the Saiga anyway.
Im curious how far the XD has been tricked out. Surely there is someone with a FireDragon, a dot and extended mags out there. If not Ill post some pix when Im done.

I'm almost there.

Except I can't have the extended mag, or the hi cap mag for that matter. Need I say why.

I did it a LONG time ago. To my knowledge, I was the first to add dot to an XD. the firedragon barrel ports are not enough to make any difference IMO. The pic was taken before I installed the EFK barrel. You do what you wish though.

Well, I figure that since you've got a bigger shell casing in the .45 vs. .38 Super/9/40, you reduce your magazine capacity. Lower mag capacity = more mag changes (Granted I've never shot a stage where there was more than 32 rounds). If I were building a race gun, I'd want all the capacity I could get while still being able to make major.

This would be my U-Classified Production class guess/opinion.
