Modifications to my XD 45's
I have found your forumn to be a wealth of information for one of my favorite guns, the Springfield XD. I own three XD's, 40 tactical, Compact 45, and most recently the 45 ACP Tactical.
I am now in the process of thinking about what modifications I want to make to my 45's. The first one was adding the Tru Glo TFO sights to the Compact 45. love the sights, hate the fit. Next I was going to send the Compact 45 back to Springfield to have them do the Carry package to it. Does anyone have any experience with this modification? |

What do you mean "hate the fit"?

The rear TFO sight has about .008 to .010 gap from the bottom of the dove tail groove when the set screw is tightened, it also looks as if the angles of the sight to not match the angle of the groove exactly.
That being said the sight has not moved in over 500 rounds through it. I did use lock tite blue when I tightened the set screw. |

Don't send it to springfield they overcharge the hell out of you for veeeery easy work that can be done by yourself. Or one of the Forum sponsors. I went with Springer and can't be more happy.

I have the same issue with the XD40sc. I want to
1. Get the slide duracoated and have TFOs installed 2. Send it to Springer Precision for a carry trigger job Can't decide which I'm going to do first. I agree that you shouldn't send it in to Springfield. Have either Springer Precision or Canyon Creek Custom do it.

So why own both a .40 Tactical and a .45ACP Tactical?

Gave my Dad the 40 Tactical, he didn't have a piece. I'll get it back some day. That's why I bought the Tactical 45
