Why not glue up some aluminum on top of the light to reflect the flash away from the light unit? Maybe that will help reduce the burn.

I will have to talk to someone who knows more about the effects of aluminum and gun powder combination. With my luck I will get some sort of flash back and burn my hands or face. Even if the set up is safe, my luck lately isnt and I have been walking around with a black cloud of doom hanging over my head. Thanks for the suggestion though. . I think in the long run I am just going to use this as an excuse to buy another light/laser combo and another XD.

Thanks, but I dont think an fountain of flame coming from my light will be acceptable. It will mess with my night vision more than I want.

It might not be desirable, but it's normal. I have a TLR1 and a TLR2, both of which have seen a lot of mounted firing. Both have the finish scorched off the top, and both still work great. Wipe the soot off the lens and press on!

BTW, IMO the TLR-series are the best light for the $$ right now. Their sister product, the M3/M6-series (I have one of those too) cost more, and are made of plastic...!

Lasers are useless -- use your sights -- its faster and will always work ...

As for the flashlight, IMHO - flashlights should only be mounted on rifles.
