That stippling does look beautiful. Looks a little like the grip pannels of my 229. I love the feel of that grip.

Thats a VERY nice stippling job.

No it wont weaken the frame.

Best looking one I've seen. In my opinion I have seen some stippling jobs that just look UGLY to me. Granted the only ones I have seen are from photos posted on this forum and the pics may just not portray the real thing accurately. I have considered the advantages of stippling, slightly smaller grip and better traction, but was concerned about cosmetics. I LOVE the bare bones stock look of my XD! After seeing these pics I may just go for it!
I wonder if you could buy a replacement grip from SA if you went for stippling and then didn't like it?

I have heard that stippling only affects the warranty of the grip, nothing else.

the gripframe is considered to be the firearm itself, so if it did need replacement you would get a new serialized "firearm" (gripframe) from springfield. that is if they decided to fix it.

I need someone that can do that kind of work locally.

Can I ask how much you compensated him for doing it?

Well -- we kind of bartered but I "think" he normally charges somewhere under $100. But he is not an FFL so you would need to be in FL.

I had the same opinion -- I thought they simple looked nasty and did not want to do it to mine.

BUT I did it out of necessity and never expected it to be as nice as it turned out. I really am in love with my new grip.

He's gotten much better at it. His first few Glocks were a little bit rougher, but I think your piece turned out really well, Omi. If I hadn't had to sell my XD9sc to get my EMP, I woulda had him work his magic on that because the grip was just a little too fat for me. Did he actually thin the grip for you, or just do the stippling?
