I just received my Fist K1 holster, which is adjustable for both IWB and OWB carry. I will post a picture as soon as I figure out how to post pics. Here is a hyperlink http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/k1/alladaptA.htm. My question is what position on the body is the best position for concealed carry. I know I have to figure out what is the best position for me, but suggestions on a good carry position is appreciated. I want to be able to draw and fire my weapon in a reasonable time and be reasonably comfortable when wearing my weapon.

What it will finally boil down to is what is most comfortable for you.
For years now I have used a Bianchi model 3S "pistol pocket" - strong side, forward cant, inside the belt - for just about every gun I carry (Sig 220 & 230, SA TRP 1911). For my XD45 I am using a DeSantis "Mini Slide" model and am quite pleased with it. Again, it is strong side with a butt forward cant. Looks like you can set that holster of yours us just about any way you want. |

In my opinion, this is more a matter of your practicing the draw and your own comfort and experience than our input. There are many ways to carry, but you have to find out what works for you.

For me just forward of my hip (2:00 2:30) draw is more effective at 3:00 but it shows and bumps things. At the 2:30 it rides nice and doesn't stick me when I sit. Any further back and it tends to print when I bend at the waist.

Just behind the hip bone on your strong side. If you read rags like Combat Handguns, this seems to be the one position most used and recommended.
FYI - when seated in a car, a cross-draw holster on your weak side in front of your hip is the best position if you have to draw when seated - especially for right-handers. |
