XD45 Service Magazine Problems

I am having a problem where my magazine are not falling out either empty or full when I push the mag release. They will fall about an inch to inch and a half and then I have to pull it out.

The weird part is that I will have a magazine that works perfectly and then it will stop falling out all the way. I have had that happen to several of my magazines. I have replaced them and they work and then they stop working. You can not shake it out but have to pull it, though not very hard.

This is true whether I am carrying them or not and no I can not visually see anything different with them.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

the top of the mag on the rear side near the primers there is a little spot where it drops down into a U shape if you lightly hammer that in a little it will solve your problrm mine does that every once and a while

I found this thread after reading through about 4 pages:

13rd mag tight insertion and extraction into reciever

But I don't shoot SWC and I don't shoot hand reloads. I shoot full metal jacket, like the WWB or reloads of the same type and I shoot HST and Ranger for carry.

I did the fix and it fixed it, I used a some needlenose and almost imperceivably tweaked that area until it worked. But what's to say I won't unload a magazine and have to do an emergency reload and have the same problem again.

Has there been any official statements from SA on this issue?

I've not had this problem, but I notice a lot of people will toss their mags into a gear bag and let 'em rumble around inside. I got a feed lip bent doing this so now I treat my mags like precision instruments and they never give me any trouble.

I had this issue also. My mags were getting stuck after shooting several hundred rounds of Federal Tactical HST +Ps that I was issued. Those rounds caused me a lot of grief.

Like another suggested, hit it with a small hammer on the back where the primer from the first round would be. Also contact Springfield, they will probably replace your mags.

I've been shooting the Ranger Ts with some success though they have caused the same problem.

What round did you end up with?

Same problem w/ my Tac. It was from shooting LSWC though. I haven't seen it yet using other factory ammo or handloads.

This is obviously a universal problem! I experienced the same thing and went the needle nose pliers route. Bent the edge back ever so slightly and now the mag drops out like it did when new.
