new XD45c 5"

I set out to get a 4" compact, but I could not find one locally.
Turns out, I like this one much better anyhow.

Carrys as easy as my XD9SC, well, has about the same amount of grip exposed above the belt when carrying IWB.

I dont have a holster specifically for it yet. I am going to order a CTAC or the tailgunner from high noon.

I am REALLY shocked at how comfy this is with my high noon split decision. I tried it out in the shop (in the holster) before I bought it and fell in love

500 flawless rounds, including 25 185G +P golden sabers.

Plans include the XS big dot, aGrip, and possibly a CC trigger job.
For now, I'm a happy camper.

If you are considering the 4" or 5" for CCW I suggest trying out the 5" as well. I never would have thought twice about it but a member here suggested it

:doubletap:

IN the wrong holster....fits perfect though

Edited to add: Got it with a 13 and 10 round mag, holster, thumb saver, and dual mag holder. $529+ tax!

NICE! I have the 4", but it is easy to read your excitement in your e-mail

Keep your mind open and you will continue to be successful in the XD family here.

Congrats! I have been considering picking up an XD45 compact. I carry the 45 service quite well, but a compact would be a nice addition.

Glad the Comp Tac works for you, as it does me. Just one suggestion though, the XS Big Dots are really nice for getting on target fast for CCW purposes at distances less than 7yds, however, if you also intend to do any target shooting at greater distances the Big Dots really make it tough. I had the Big Dots on a PCR at one time, and at 7yds the front sight covers a 3" shoot-n-C circle and at 10yds, the sights just about cover a 5" circle. They make it really tough to do an accurate shooting beyond 10yds, at least for me.

For about the same cost, TruGlo Tritium Fiber Optics work very well for quick target acquisition and accurate shooting either at the range during the day or anywhere at night

yeah, I am reading that a lot.
I am looking hard at those suresights from the forum sponsor.
Price seems a lottle on the high side for a non-night site, but still looks good

I remember the first time I saw the 5" compact. I couldn't believe that SA made one. I like the 4" service but I also want a compact. I don't know which one I want more, the 4" or the 5" version.

Thanks for sharing.

That thing looks cool! I was nearly decided on the 4" compact for my next CCW piece, but now I'll have to rethink that.

Finally got my XD .45 5" Tac!!

Well yesterday was finally the day... I drove down to the range to meet my buddy and throw a few hundred slugs down range. As I walked in the front door, to my shock and amazement, I saw a table with a bunch of guns on it and a huge "For Sale" sign. Naturally, I had to take a peak. And there it was... Dead center. My XD .45 5" tac! Brand spankin new for $529.

I've been looking for this gun all over the place for months. The people who had it wanted over $600 for it. The places who sold it for less never had it in stock.

Finally... Finally!! All the planets aligned and I GOT IT!! WOO HOO!!

Between the gun, tax, background check and a few boxes of shells, it still turned out to be a $600 afternoon. But I got it!!

No idea how I'm gonna get gas to get to work this week or buy lunch... But I got my XD!!

Compact or Service

I am struggling with the buying decision Compact vs. Service. I have shot the Service and love it. But I do plan on ccw. I know it comes with the grip extension which in reality turns it into a service. I read a lot of you wanting for the compact. This is my first and will be my only firearm.

Anyone want to dive in and push me off the fence, one side or the other?

I love the compact. I particularly love the idea of having 2 different size clips that "transform" the gun into either a compact for CC or a service model for fun at the range.

It was a very hard decision to go with the 5" tac over the compact. But since I'm 6'2" and 250, I figure I'll have an easier time trying to CC than, say, my wife who's 5'5".

And if it doesn't work out that way... Guess I'll have to go back and get the compact too!
