I'll give you a little nudge.... trust me, IF you are going to CCW any at all, go with the Compact, the 3/4" less grip length just makes all the difference for easy conceal.

Rick in Tampa

Congratulations, Rick in Tampa, on your new piece!!!! Personally, I am affraid to come across any deals like you found as my wife will surely cut my nuts off if I buy another gun anytime soon.

But my last gun was the XD .45 4" and dam its a sweet shooter. Was even at the range today, as I now have a 1 year pass for the range for my son and I.

Take care my friend and enjoy your new associate.

lol... Don't I know it! I'm going to try and keep this thing hidden as long as I can. But that's going to be hard since I plan on using it every weekend.

I shot the 4" for months before the 5" finally went on sale. I loved it too. I'm just very impressed with the entire XD line. I shot a dozen models of .45 before I decided on the XD. It's just a great feeling/shooting gun.

It's great that you're taking your son to the range. I take my 16 year old daughter. She's the son I've always wanted. I figure the sooner you teach them to handle and respect a firearm, the better. So far, I can still out shoot her.

I'm thinking the perfect deal is gonna be to have a 4" service and a 5" compact, and be able to switch the uppers back and forth

Congrats!

To all the new owners of a fine pistol. I really enjoy my 4" service model.

With out a doubt but the 45 Compact Tactical you can then switch the barrel/slide assemblies and have 4 different guns.

don't bet on it.
Get the compact though, in whatever length barrel you feel you need.

Rick,

Which range did you go to? I am going to shoot Friday morning and wouldn't mind looking over the sale table. I bet you were at the range on Highway 301...

You guessed it buddy! The place is called Shoot Straight. It's on the East side of 301 just before MLK blvd by the fairgrounds.

Looooooots of toys in there!
