I use them for competition on my 4" XD for IDPA and IPSC. They're as accurate as I am. I love em. I'm going to buy a 5" XD and slap those on there when I get a little money. I guess I could sell some stuff. Haha.

I agree. The XS Big Dot and the sub compacts go together like corned beef and rye. If I got an XDSC, I probably would but a set on but not on the larger Service or Tactical models. For the compacts and larger, nothing has proven better for me than the Heinie Slant Pro Straight 8's but sights are a very personal thing. What works for one shooter, doesn't work for another.

The longer sight radius of the XD45 compared to my Glock 27 just didn't "feel" or look right with the XS Big Dot. The front sight was not as sharp as it appears on my Glock 27 (I wear variable focus eyeglasses) and it required more bending of the head to get that "sweet spot" although the Big Dot overall was fast to pick up. And then I thought while the Glock 27 was designed for up close and personal work (but no tack driver) my XD45 is extremely accurate out to 20 yards or so and I shoot it better than many of my other guns. Why not get the best out of it by putting on a really good set of conventional sights? Credit card in hand, I ordered and installed a set of Heinie Slant Pro Straight 8's with the optional .140 wide notch rear. These are Tritium sights and they are excellent (I have the same set on my Glock 23), quick sight acquisition, and I was knocking out the center ring at the range today like nobody's business. Long story made short, the Big Dots are perfect for my little Glock 27 but the Heine's rule on my larger XD-45c. And the new MGW sight pusher for the XD made things very easy. Here they are:
I have been wondering about night sights to install on my XD-45 Compact. I had been thinking about the TruGlo sights until I read that they do not fit perfectly on the XD. How does your Heinie sights fit on your XD? How well can you see the sights in a dark environment? How quick can you pick up the sights in bright light, like outside during the day? How rugged are the Heinie sights? Any other information you can provide is appreciated.

What do you mean "don't fit properly on the XD" ?
I have them on 3 XD's and they "fit" just fine.
If you're talking about the TFO WARNING post, meh

With the MGW sight pusher (for the XD) installation is a breeze. Even with my old baby boomer eyes, I have no problem picking them up in a dark environment and they are equally as functional in daylight. As to ruggedness, IMHO they are more rugged than most, certainly stronger than a conventional fiber optic tube sight - been there done that. I also happen to think they look more professional if that matters.

As I said elsewhere, sights are a personal thing and you need to get what works best for you however....after trying now virtually every known sight, and that includes the TruGlo TFO, the Meprolights, the Ameriglos, the XS Big Dots, Novaks, and everything in-between, I have found nothing better (for me) than the Heinie Slant Pro (I recommend you get the .140 wide notch rear). If there is one neg however, you have to be careful about rust. Make sure you apply a coating of oil to the exterior of the front and rear. I have also gone back to the basics as far as grips. Nothing seems to work better than the ever-so-humble bike tube grip. It didn't move a hair after 150 rounds of test fire yesterday.

Sorry about that!

I have a 45XD Service. Ive put about 300 more rounds down the barrel since this posting. Im working on my draw and being able to place two well aimed shots without hesitation into the heart. I cant help but look left and right a few times, just to make sure all the dots are lined up, thats why I thought these aftermarket sights would help me get things lined up quicker, and make my shots faster.

My father went to police academy sometime ago. I went shooting with him last year and he was telling me about the qualifications he had to go thrugh. I really cant remember all the qualifications and requirements, or even the shots, but I do remember that he said how hed empty a mag and all the shots had to count, in just seconds.

I dont know how many seconds, how many shots, or even the distance, as we were just having a good time shooting, after comming home from Korea.

(am I rambling here?)

Id really like to become a better shot, and I know that practive is one thing that would help alot, however, if I could get the straight eight sights or something similar to help me become a quicker and smoother shot, I would not mind investing in the sights.

In reference to the XD in the picture with the different colored vials...the rear Yellow and front Green are those TFOs as well or just FO ?...I am asking because I have been going crazy looking for TFOs with different colors for the front and rear..I don't really care about which colors..I justw ant them different.

Thanks in advance.
