Reloading for XD-45?

I have been reloading for a about 6 months for my 1911, and all my loads have been fine. But when i try to shoot them through my XD, the slide won't go all the way into battery, more than half the time.

Is anyone else having trouble/ had trouble with reloading for the XD-45?

Blake.

Yeah it happened to me. I took the barrel out and made a dummy, then kept shortening the OAL until it slid right into place. When shortening the OAL, you may want to back down a notch on powder charge if you're already loading close to max.

tighten your crimp, keep the OAL around 1.250-1.260

I load with Lasercast 230 LRN at 1.260 +/- .005 with Lee FCD and never had FTF. It will not feed SWC.

I'm sure everyone is right, the OAL is important.
Mine feeds lead SWC perfectly but the chamber leads up after 75-100 rounds so I switched to jacketed bullets and have had zero failures w/ my reloads (200 gr Montana Gold bullet, 4.6gr Titegroup, OAL = 1.210". YMMV.

I have encountered this problem before myself. I didn't have the base of the previously fired case sized down enough above the rim. I adjusted my sizing die down further until the resized and reloaded round would drop into a case gauge like the one linked to below. Before my adjustments it wouldn't go in all the way. This gauge also shows if your OAL is correct as well. I would heavily recommend getting one to check your reloads. They are available rather cheap at Midway and other places:

Smile Reloading for XD-45?

I use Bear Creek 200gr SWC moly, 1.230 OAL. .470 crimp, 5.4-5.6 gr of 231 or HP-38. SWC works for me.

Not likely that the chamber leaded up, regardless of what kind of ammo you were shooting. Bore might have leaded up, but not the chamber. I'm also a big fan of Montana Gold bullets. They have a very hard jacket.
